Unique wedding gift ideas anyone?  

My husband and I went to a wedding last month. We got a present which consisted 2 parts. 1 was a picture frame where they could put a weddin photo in it. The other part was a bit of humour. It was a cake topper. It was a little statue of a bride and groom. The bride was dragging the groom by the ankle.

The couple that was getting married saw it and laughed at it.

In your country do you have the custom of a gift registry? This is where the couple registers with a department store and provides a list of things they might want or need. People who want to buy a gift look at the list and choose an item. The department store then removes that item from the list. This way the couple gets things that they want or need and the rate of duplication is low.

If you don't have that option you could ask the mother of the bride, a close girlfriend of the bride or a sister of the bride or groom for ideas. The worst thing is to receive gifts that you have to drag around for the next 30 or 40 years which you have never used and never will and you don't want to give them away either because of the person that gave them to you.

Believe me, I am 70 years old and I still dust off wedding gifts from a favourite aunt because I would feel awful if I got rid of them.

mine is bath roof and nighties..lol..hehehe ....I just want them to remember on their honeymoon period or whenever they are together sharing happy moments. but this is not exactly i want to give every wedding day of my friend of course others wedding are also unique..i might gave them underwear also a wedding underwear designed by me..

I gave my sister and my brother in-law a big mirror tied with ribbons for their wedding. I just thought that other people must have gave plates, tea set, whatever so I want to give something that not in that list but they need it and use it everyday.

My husband and I got a beautiful gift from one of our friends. They had our wedding invitation redesigned and professionally mounted and framed in a beautiful setting. It's one of our most treasured keepsakes.

you more than anyone should know their interests and perhaps you could get something along that lines. it doesnt have to be something for the house, it could be matching hockey jerseys! what about a book on couplehood?
we attend a ton of weddings because we are the sound people at our church so we usually buy a large nice bowl and all the fixings for spaghetti for the bowl including utensils that are needed. we got a lot of funny comments from the bride and groom - it makes a great first meal!

Hmmm, when my sister got married last year, almost everyone brought something for the kitchen. When I was helping her open the presents, most of the time we just lifted it and if it felt heavy - we knew it was some sort of glassware for the kitchen. I'd advise to buy anything besides glassware. Couples get loads of those. Something nice would be a unique clock for a mantelpiece....or you could a photo album of their wedding. You know just take random pics from the rehearsal straight through. I think its something that they'd probably appreciate even if they do get a photographer becuase as its your best friend, I'm sure there'd be special moments you'd capture and serve as a really nice reminder of their wedding 10 or 20 odd years down the road.

We have a wedding coming up and I want to get the movie "Fireproof" put it in a big bowl with microwave popcorn and something to drink and anything else I find at the store that would be appropriate.

I think that would be a good movie to re-connect with in years to come.

I don't think you should be asking us this question. Because that person ( I don't know the gender...) is your best friend, you, not everyone here, should know his / her interest and know what the best wedding gift is. Think about what your best friend would like, and get your best friend the present!
