i am an english speaking guide who live in qingdao. Qingdao is my hometown and it is a beautiful city also. if you come to China, i suggest you should visit qingdao city. as follow i would introduce the symbolic strcuture of Qingdao. the Jutting Pier, the symbolic structure of Qingdao,has witness the modern history and social change of Qingdao in the past hundred years. Located in the west of Shinan District, the Jutting Pier is actually an extension of the city's most bustling shopping street,Zhongshan Road. the Jutting Pier was originally constructed as a wharf in 1891 by a commander of Qing Dynasty named Zhang Gaoyuan. the Jutting Pier was built with 200 meters long and 10 meters wide for military supplies and anchored warships of the NOrthern Navy. in 1897,Germany launched the invasion and force-landedd from the Jutting Pier, in 1901, Germany extended the Jutting Pier to 350 meters long wigh a light rail for freight transporting.in 1904, the Jutting Pier ended its historical mission and opened to the public as a park.
