It's just me, or today's music really sucks? |

| I grew up listening good rock, like Yes, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Frank Zappa. But, after the mid 80's, no rock band had the same quality of the 60's and the 70's, and none catch my attention with good riffs like Eruption (Van Halen), good harmony like Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd) and good attittude like Straight Between the Eyes (Rainbow). When Freddie Mercury died, i cried a lot... Please, Freddie, come back and save us from this crappy music!!!! | | | | | |

| | i have to agree with you - only partially though. while i like older stuff (YES is one of my favourite bands), i still like U2 and some of the newer bands that are out these days like Nickleback, Coldplay and singers like Pink. but when it comes to rappers, i just cant get into them. | | | | | | |

| | U2 is good, but u must remember that they started in the late 70's, and all this new rock bands try to copy the old ones. When they are sucessul in copy the old styles, they make a sucess song... | | | |

| | I don't care for today's music. I too grew up with 60s and 70s music. The biggest problem I find with 80s to current music is they all sound the same. In the 60s and 70s, all the great bands were unique. with a guitar riff or a voice, you knew exactly who you were listening to. Everyone had their own sound. When I'm with my son in the car, I have to constantly ask 'Who does this song?' because it sounds exactly like the last song. Too generic. Not artistic value whatsoever. | | | | | | |

| | I totally agree, I seldom listen to music made past 1980. The ammount of bands that are in the calibre of those from the 60's and 70's are few and far between. It seems to me that there is little incentive for young people to learn an instrument and join a band when there are too many pre-fabricated acts getting pushed in the media. Music these days is too much about the charts and selling images. The record companies care less about the actual quality of music rather than the ammount of hype they can deliver in selling the highly polished individual on the cover of the CD. | | | | | | |

| | This is so true with music. It hasn't any soul. I wasn't a big fan of Queen, but Freddie was a great talent. | | | | | | |

| | Yeah!! but no too!I mean even I like classic rock a lot but there isn't any classic rockers anymore, right, its all modern. Maybe, when we grow old, in like 40 years, Linkin Park would be regarded as classic rock, because music would have degraded to such an extent. But maybe if young guys like us start a trend of listening only to classic rock then music would become just like it was 30 years ago. But since I'm here, I listen to whatever I begin to start liking, like Hard rock or maybe even Metal. But I agree with you on the Eruption thing.........I have it as my ring tone!!!! | | | | | | |

| | First off, most of it is not music. It is some kind of organized noise. Some of it makes me feel like I am getting yelled at and makes me tense. Today radio broadcasting is awful. | | | | | | |

| | It use to be a group started up, made some original songs, sent demo tapes, got discovered by a record label and became super stars. Today, the record company surveys a billion people of a certain demographic profile. Then they find someone who physically fits the profile and can carry a tune. The record company finds someone to write songs based on the aforementioned profile, cuts a record then markets the hell out of it to the same said profile. Once the demographics change, the singer/star is history. (example: Britney Spears) That is why music since about 1990 has pretty much sucked. There are exceptions like Type O Negative but still they fit a certain demographic profile. | | | | | | |

| | There is good music out there, but you really have to look for it. One of my favorite bands is Goldfinger. Well, that's 90's. So you probally wouldn't like them. You are right in saying that the music sucks now, though, especially the mainstream. Uggg!!! | | | | | | |

| | I think today's rock music has taken a downturn for the most part. I'm into heavy metal the most and this genre always seems to be producing something interesting. Mainstream rock has certainly lost its charm compared to the seventies, for sure. | | | | | | |
