Are you a Widow/widower and do you still wear your wedding ring?

I am not personally a widow but my mother and mother in law are. My mother lost her husband June of 2007 and yes she still wears her wedding ring. She even has his wedding ring around her neck. She tells everyone it is part of her.
My mother in law lost her husband to cancer Dec 2008 and she is also still wearing her wedding ring and also states it will never come off.

i think that you should wear them for as long as you want to, i have never lost anyone in that way but i think that when someone has been such a huge part of your life for so long then you have to let go of things and move forward in your own time you only lost them recently so give your self a brake, ignore everyone else and move through the greaving prosess at your own pace.

When my dad died, my mom wore her rings until she died almost 10 years later. I think it's an individual choice, and if you feel better wearing them, you should. I am sorry for your loss.

aaah.. Annmac! My heart goes out to you and I wish I could hold you near to me. What a grief and emptiness along with so many other tough emotions you must have been feeling and still are!

I am not a widower, so the question about wearing the ring does not apply in this case. I cannot imagine that, if my wife died, I could remove my ring.
I imagine it is a matter of time and appropriateness in one's life.

When and if you are ready will be the time, and not before YOU make that decision. Only YOU know how important it is to your grieving process and memories how long any feelings will last.
