Being married to a control freak

My husband and I have been married for 15 years and I am 10 years younger than him. I work full time and he operates a beef cattle farm. I have an apartment in the town I work in, it is an hour and a half drive, and thus pay bills in both the apartment and the home base. I have to ask if I can go anywhere with my friends and so I feel like a little kid asking daddy for permission. I feel that he should be helping with the bills and that I shouldnt have to ask permission to do things. How do other people handle being married, most days I just want out but I married for better or worse and he is not violent to me so that is not an issue. Also on my days off I am expected to work on the cattle farm so really I get no days off and to take a vacation is something that just doesnt happen. Any suggestions on how to deal with this situation?
