Had you ever been to Mayan pyramid?

In Mexico, one of historical attractions from the past is the Mayan culture, their pyramids, villages. Had you ever been to those attractions, historical sites, and museum? I would like to make a trip to those places in the future too. I read books about them, but I need a fisrt - hand experience.

When I went to Cancún, I also went for the day to the ruins of Chichén Itzá. It was awesome! I also went to Tulum, a site that is smaller and less touristy. I think both are important to visit. In my experience, It´s very important that you pay for a good guide. There are trained guides that know the history of the place (quite different from the guides they have at the tours where you pay fopr the package). It´s not THAT expensive nad it´s worth it.
