We live in fleas and tick country and I have tried garlic and brewers yeast to try to keep these pests away from my dogs. It just doesn't work well, I hate to use the chemicel guards. Has anyone had any success with any natural guards? I give the above natural ones to my dog each day all year long and they still don't work well.

Front Line for Dogs works great. It's a monthly treatment that oomes in a tube much like Advantage. It's applied between their shoulder blades, water resistant, and rolling in the grass resistant. LOL It also keeps the fleas out of the house. I've seen two flea in February and started applying it, and have'nt seen a one since. It's going to be bad this year for everyone, at least that's what my vet said when I went to buy FrontLine. It's expensive but well worth it. I tried Advantage, but unfortunately, it didn't agree with my pets skin.

Thank you savypat for the best response. Looking at what I wrote above, I sure see where I made some typing errors. Typing so fast, that I don't realize that sometimes this laptop is not always picking up everything I put in at times. What did you decid on for your baby and is it working good? Thanks again!

First you need to consult with any dog's consultant he can suggest you right guards. Otherwise you are wasting your money by trying different types of guards.

I really do not know what to suggest I have to take Gissi to the Vet every month to have the Treatment done as he is allergic to the Fleas and the products in the Shops do not work for him I have tried the Garlic and that but like you say it makes no difference

I finally gave up & started using Advantage. I don't like the chemicals but I like fleas even less. (I have 2 dogs & 2 cats.) You put this on the back of the dog's head near the neck & they can't lick it. It really cuts down on fleas. There's even one that fights heart worms as well as fleas. I think they call it Multi on the label. If you really refuse to use chemicals, i found Avon's Skin-So-Soft worked the best & it didn't get rid of them. I've heard that Shaklee has a good all natural products but I don't remember the name of the product. My last dog had a flea allergy & stayed bald every summer. Even the flea meds didn't work on him. The Avon Skin-So-Soft helped the hot spots on his back & helped to keep his fur looking good!!! (when he even had any fur) I was told the show dogs use the Skin-So-Soft to keep them looking shiny & smooth.
