From my experience, watching shows has been very helpful to my kid. Her favorite is barney. She has grown so smart because of the things she saw in the show. They are very informative and educational. I bet, you just need to select which shows are fit for your kid.

If babies are watching just random cartoons, they may learn passive-agressiveness from it, but not much more. If you are monitoring the shows that your child watches, and making sure that the majority is educational shows, you will see good results. If they are watching violence and mindless drivel, you will see negative results.
