UGH! I have no idea what to do! Our baby will be 1 on May 2nd and we are not sure what we want to do yet. I dont really see having a big party for him, he wont really remember it...but I will have the pics! Then I was thinking maybe we could take him up to Disney but again, he wouldnt really remember....just the pics. If we have a party I dont see any real sense in having it at some indoor facility like Gameworks or Chuck E Cheese because it will end up being more for the older kids. HMMMM..... Then if we have 1 outdoors I would like to have it out front in our complex but there is very little grass left with the lack of rain and excessive heat and I would like to do a water type part and it would just end up all muddy! YUCK! Then there is always at a park but the ones around here do not have water access so I could not do sprinkers and things like that that I would like to do....
Anyways I could go on and on and on but I wont....
What did you do for your babys 1st birthday? Was it held at a facility or at home? Were there alot of people? Did you just take him/her out someplace with you for the day?
Thanks!

I personally like home parties better then any other. We had a home party for my daughters first. We invited the family and a few friends. It wasn't a big thing just a few apitizers cake and ice cream.

I like having one at home because we have 3 older kids that will be here and if we have it out front we will be able to bring the baby in throughout the day for naps and stuff without having to make the others come in as well, they can continue to play throughout the day.

We had a first year birthday party for all of our five children and took pictures. Then when they got older we showed the photos to he/she. They now have to photos to show their little ones. Lots of wonderful and beautiful memories.

Happy myLotting

My daughter who is 5 loves to look at old pics of her and her brothers. She gets a kick out of seeing them.

Hi callahanb.
My daughter had her party in McDonald's when she turned 1. You're absolutely right, 1 year old kids wouldn't have any memories of their first birthday. My daughter just enjoyed watching the video and looking at the photos when she got older. We decided to give her another McDonald's party when she turned 7. Now, that's the one she can remember. I usually hold parties and special occasions at function rooms or other facilities so that it's a bit worry-free. But the downside is you end up spending more.
I also agree with you, parties for babies turning one end up to be more for older kids and the parents' friends as well.
I want to extend my birthday wishes to your lovely little angel. Have fun and God bless.happy

I remember having a party at McDonald's when I was younger. It was alot of fun actually. A few of my friends had theirs there too. It is something different. I just wish I could reserve the play area (all of it) for a certain time frame to avoid people running over the baby that I dont know. :)

I know babies don't remember their first birthdays, but I had a party for my sake-- it was a milestone for me too. I think it is important to celebrate the event. I kept it pretty low key. Had a picnic at the park with just family and close friends. We had balloons, cake and personalized pencils for party favors. I did not want to spend a lot of money because that's not important to me. I just wanted it to be fun and memorable. I would not take him to a place like Chuck E Cheese for a first birthday-- that's for when he gets a little older and we'll invite a couple of friends for him to play with.

If you can't come up with a place to have a party that works, try having a small gathering in your home with just the few people closest to your son- grandparents or close friends. Just have his favorite food and cake and ice cream. A couple of balloons and party favors will make it special.
