I got a sample of red tea today... otherwise known as Rooibos (Roy-boss). It has an earthy aroma and a distinctive red color. It's supposed to have health benefits, but when I went to the website on the sample package, I couldn't find any listed. Have you had red tea, do you like it, and do you know what the health benefits are?

Oh, yes, I've tasted it. It takes a bit getting used to, but it's not bad.

I think this is a South African tea. I knew a lady from South Africa and she had people bring it for her whenever they went there. I'm not a big tea drinker. I drink iced tea in the summer. Any type of real tea will do me just fine.

Yes, that's what it says on the back of the box: "a plant grown and harvested only in the foothills of the Cederberg Mountains of South Africa". Have you ever tried it?

I drank it at a South Africans house. I didn't find it so special, but of course I said it was delicious. Tasted like normal tea to me, but I'm not a teas conusuor. (sp) The lady who served it to me passed away a few years ago, just a few weeks after her best friend. Sad, but having friends who are seniors, it happens.

Red tea helps to control your appetite, so is very helpful for weight control. It has magnesium, potassium and copper. It works also as very good anti-depressant...

Thanks for that information. I guess I'd have to drink it for more than a week to see any significant results but I did feel slightly better the week I tried it.

Hello Doll I drink it often along with a mixture that I mix for myself. It's a free radical fighter.. it has a ton of flavinoids I think even more the green tea I used to give it to my kids when they had a stomach upset or when my girls had those dreaded monthy cramps. I like it at night because it is very calming. If you find the favor too earthy mixing with mints or ginger will help. xooxoxxoxo

The flavor's not too bad, but it's different from some bottled Rooibos tea I had in the summer. I don't remember the bottled stuff smelling quite so "funky", either.

I think it has antioxident properties. But then, so does other tea.
