This was inspired by another discussion that I was involved with regarding teaching our children acceptance of other people. It seems that in this day and age we tend to be questioning who should be teaching our children. I think it's obvious, us. We the parents should be teaching our children. We should be setting the foundation, and instilling these values before our children enter the school yard.
I feel that Crosby, Stills, and Nash sum it up well. Enjoy the video.
For thoughts, what are you teaching your children? How do you reinforce it? Are there things your children have picked up that are not good things either from you or others that you are now trying to change? How do you help your children stay strong to their moral foundations in a world that is not always accepting?

Hi Anora! What am I teaching my child? I have to think this through... Just at the moment we are learning, and believe me, I am learning right along with her, how to stand up for yourself and what you believe in and being responsible for your feelings and behaviours.
My girl is only seven and she's reading a book for children about self esteem; a lot of it is over her head but she is picking up points here and there.
I want her to learn values and standing by them.
I want her to learn that she may better off than some but never better.
I want her to learn that she, like everyone else matters and has the right to be heard.
I want her to learn compassion, empathy and kindness and most importantly I want her to learn to have an open heart and not to let fear close it off from the love she deserves.
She learns about life by watching me, because I am her female role model and that responsibility is enormous and the prayer I have every day is that I may be worthy of this role. I see her talking and acting like me; she is me! That is how I enforce all that I teach her, by living it.
I pray I am doing well.

Love the song...
Bad habits I'm teaching my children? Too dang much time on the internet and not enough reading and other activities.
And yes, I agree with you, the primary responsibility for teaching children should be on the parents. We have a lot of talks about what's going on in the world and in school and with their friends. It's kind of hard to talk to Cary, more basic, but the girls have a pretty good foundation.
