In my country Nepal, on the mother's day, people buy lot of nice food specially fruits and sweets and hand them over to their mother. Also while handing these things, people touch the feet of the mother and the mother gives blessings to the child. This is an old custom of Nepal, which is don't not only on the occasion of the Mother's day, but in many occasions in order to show respect to the older people. Some people also give their mothers new clothes and other gifts rather than gifts only. But foods are like compulsory thing, Not written that you should, but people get mentally ready for giving foods. Apart from this the bride in a family is helped preparing the food by her mother in law and her husband to get ready for her to go to her mother's home and celebrate mothers day. So this is about my country. How is mother's day celebrated in your country?...

Typically you take mom out to brunch ( restaurants jack up their prices for this too! ), or make mom breakfast in bed. THen you give her flowers, chocolates, do tasks or whatever comes to mind that you know would please your mom.

hi nzalheart! well, mother's day in our country has become commercialized already. we give gifts to our moms, greet them, kiss them, take them out to lunch or dinner, or the movies, or whatever. our church also celebrates mother's day and since it falls on a sunday, our church gives away gifts to our moms and we get to give them. then we pray for our moms, especially those who are present and worshipping with us. i dunno, i think gone are the days when children did chores, etc, to save their moms the effort for that day. i think it is mostly store-bought gifts etc. and well yeah, we celebrate with food as well. i am a new mom now and so i realized that i will be part of the celebration this year, not just as a daughter, but as a mom as well. and that makes my mom a grandmama! :D take care and God bless you! happy mylotting!

Hello spoiled311!!! Yes the mother's day is slowly getting commercialized in our country too, but not totally. But rather than store-bought gifts, people like to buy some daily usable things as gift like saris to wear, sandles etc. Buying cards is very very rare yet. So are having new excitations this year. Happy mother's day to you. Wish you for the happiness!!! Thanks for sharing...
