Did you have HBO in the early 1980s?

Remember that opening before the movie started with the big metal HBO flying through space? That opening is on you tube. They have the full version that starts off with the family watching TV, then the camara goes down the street before going up in space. just put in HBO 1983 intro. It will brin g back memories. Like cable, with HBO being $16.00 a month. I watched it as few time. According to one of the comments, the documentary on how they made that beginning is also on you tube. I remember seeing that. Now, we can't even afford any pay channels.

HAHA, Yeah I remember the big metal HBO logo flying threw space.I remember back then thinking " Oh WOW, That Looks Cool!!"..hehe ( well I was a kid and that was state of the art effects then) I actually have accidentally ran across that HBO opening on youtube not too long ago. I remember the movies they would show back in the early 80's ( I'm thinking like 1980-81) They use to show "Meatballs" with Billy Murry and the movie " The Rose" which I was never allowed to watch because of it's adult content and I was a kid and not allowed to watch any "R" rated movies..LOL I also remember back in the early late 70's or early 80's this UHF channel called "View" ( I think that was the name) and it was a paid subscription channel. I have no ideal what types of movies it would show because we never subscribed to this channel. I just remembered this View channel was always on at night and scrambled with lines and snow for non-subscribers. I also remember when MTV first came on the air and they would play any music video they could get their hands on. I remember seeing Juice Newton videos being played in rotation back then..pfff.. queen of hearts.....hehe..

In our area, Detroit MI, on channel 20 which was a UHF channel, there was a service available called "On" TV. Like you said, it came on at night.
