Do you know that Indira Gandhi should have actually been Indira Ghaddiwala? email this discussion to a friend?

Hi
we all know that Indira Gandhi married Feroz Gandhi-but his true name was Feroz Ghaddiwala-he was a Parsi.Indira Gandhi met him on their way back from London on a steamer and fell in love. Those dayz sea journeys used to be more than month long. She also got pregnant on the same voyage and there was no alternative but to marry Feroz. But Jawaharlal Nehru was furious and was dead against marrying Indira to Feroz coz he was a parsi. It was mahatma gandhi who then intervened and adopted Feroz and thats how he got the surname of Gandhi.

Hi,

This is a news for me as I did not know this fact. But still the surname that Indira had is legit and there should not be any debate on this. If Feroz was adopted son of Mahatma Gandhi, naturally he would take up his gather;s surname and hence there is logic in Indira's writing her surname after her husband's surname.

Now she is Indira Gandhi and would remain so.

myLot reputation of 90/100. sudiptacallingu (7064)   ranked 199 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

He was not Gandhiji’s adopted son by mutual choice…Gandhiji merely offered his surname to him so that Jawarharlal Nehru could be spared the shame and agree to his daughter’s marriage to a Parsi. And post-Independence, the family spared no trouble to obliterate him from public memory.

Oh! I did not know about that. Now I will look for some sources.

Indira Gandhi was very precocious in her youth...with her mother being relegated to the background by both 'ultra-modern' father & daughter, this was to be expected.
She had numerous affairs, one of them with Dhirendra Brahmachari.
"Dhirendra Brahmachari was the yogic mentor of Indira Gandhi...He was born in Bihar in 1924 and died in 1994 when his private plane crashed, an event still shrouded in mystery....is alleged to have had an affair with Indira Gandhi according to M.O. Mathai in his book"...ref Wikipedia. This is an open secret.
And to think she embodier Bharatiya Nari...Stree Shakti!
All humbugs

I know one thing is that Nehru never mentioned the name of his wife Kamala Nehru in his autobiography "Am Aoutobiography". This surely provides room for suspicion.

myLot reputation of 90/100. sudiptacallingu (7064)   ranked 199 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

Nehru had little respect for Kamla Nehru…she was the typical docile and meek Indian wife in awe of her illustrious husband. Indira being her father’s pet, she too mistreated her mother. It is heard that Kamla Nehru actually died of heartbreak and mistreatment.
I have also heard that Nehru himself had an eye for women, Lady Mountbatten being most famous. It is also said that the famous Hindi film heroine Nargis is actually Nehru’s illegitimate child…Nehru was a secret patron of Nargis’s mother Jaddanbai. From many angles, you can actually see a similarity between Nargis and Nehru so this just might be true, after all.

myLot reputation of 90/100. krajibg (2504)   ranked 9 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

wow, an hole is becoming a snake's room. You pointed out rigtly that Nehru had extra interest for Women and the lady Mountbatten case is already a heard thing. About the similarity between Indira and Nargis could be true.

myLot reputation of 90/100. sudiptacallingu (7064)   ranked 199 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

‘lady Mountbatten case is already a heard thing…’ a heard thing yes, but at what cost does the majority in India know that? It was Lady Mountbatten who was instrumental in influencing Nehru to accept her husband (Lord Mountbatten) and the British plan of how India would be carved. He was so besotted with her that he thought more of keeping her happy than his own nation or party. MOST in India today do not know of these facts and in those pre-independent times, people were too obsessed with Gandhi and Nehru and of course the British were white people…the rulers! So naturally such betrayals were overlooked or even seen as a matter of pride that Nehru (and not Jinnah) was so close to the Mountbattens!

I hadn't even imagined in my wildest dreams that the discussion that i had started wud unearth so much information,so many skeletons tumbling out of the cupboard-everyone knows abt the affairs of nehru with edwina mountbatten-but this nargis stuff-its news to my ears-but i really admire u sudipta for possesing such classified information.

Yes, just goes to show how secular Nehru himself was as regards to his daughter!
And what a family…whereas everywhere in India you turn your head you will find something on Jawaharlal Nehru, his daughter Indira, her son Rajiv and maybe Rahul in future…but they have so convincingly managed to obliterate Feroze Gandhi from the nation’s awareness that he even existed. I think this family really crossed the limit of self-conceit.

myLot reputation of 84/100. tamildude3 (300)   ranked 33 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

Well given that the Feroz Gandhi episode was considered nothing but a shame and with the power the Congress family had, no wonder that all efforts were made to try erase as much of his memory from the eyes of people. I also heard some conspiracy theories about Feroze Gandhi's death and Indira's alleged affairs. The Nehru Family is not as decent as many people think!

myLot reputation of 81/100. amirev777 (802)   ranked 192 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

hi
yeah u r right that Gandhi family is not like what it is projected out to be-certainly not when it comes out to moral values.Indira gandhi certainly was not someone whom u can call epitome of morality.i agree with sudipta that thier family crossed the limit of self-conceit.

myLot reputation of 90/100. sudiptacallingu (7064)   ranked 199 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

But I have great respect for Sonia Gandhi...what a woman and to think she is a foreigner with different upbringing!

myLot reputation of 74/100. vipinl (407)   ranked 5 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

Then which family are you referring to " I think this family crossed all the limits". Sonia Gandhi is the Indian who refused to take Indian citizenship for 15 years after her marriage.

myLot reputation of 90/100. sudiptacallingu (7064)   ranked 199 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

I am talking about the Nehru-Gandhi family alright!
Regarding Sonia Gandhi, I admire her primarily for her guts and diligence…after Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination, most women in her place would have packed her bags and left for her homeland alongwith her children. She could have got the money anyway thru inheritance. But the fact that she stayed back and is today leading India reflects a lot both on her and on us.
Regarding citizenship…what’s wrong if she did not accept Indian citizenship for 15 years after her marriage! She’s at least better than most Indians whose first thought on landing on foreign shores is how fast can they acquire the citizenship of that foreign land!
And Sonia is of course not an intrinsic part of this family…remember that…she is the ‘bahu’ with different mental setup.

myLot reputation of 84/100. tamildude3 (300)   ranked 33 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

Man you said that Sonia could have anyway got the money through inheritance, But the money they are making now and the power they enjoy, they would never have got it if they had gone to Italy. I think She stayed back out here grooming herself to take over the reins of party. And She was given the post of congress president immediately after Citizenship was given to her. there are many people whi love Indian culture and there r many foreigners who stay here learn the language etc. So these things doesn make Sonia Special. She stayed in India for the Money and Power not for the love of country!

myLot reputation of 74/100. vipinl (407)   ranked 5 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

Ya alright, so you are commenting about Nehru-Gandhi family. Where Sonia Gandhi is today its due to Gandhi after her name not because of she is some Sonia from Italy. She is nothing but just another member of the family you are saying have crossed there limits, had she not been related to that family, no one would have ever known her. I have nothing in there favor and whole Gandhi dynasty, which is responsible for this condition of India even after moire than 60 years of India. Still have nothing to do with what they did in there personal lives, who had affair with whom, and who has illegitimate child. Every one has a private life other than public, none should be bothered about that. And coming to Sonia noway Sonia Gandhi could have ever thought about leaving India keeping in mind what power she enjoys here.

myLot reputation of 81/100. amirev777 (802)   ranked 192 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

hi
i agree with both of you that sonia gandhi has got no special qualities-she was a reluctant politician who was coaxed into joining politics by the congressmen to get the most of her famous surname. i think she hardly uses any part of her brain on her own.she's just a show piece-but same cannot be said of priyanka.

myLot reputation of 90/100. sudiptacallingu (7064)   ranked 199 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

I think you guys misunderstood me on Sonia...what I wanted to say was that being a foreigner, she could easily have gone away with her children and remarried...nobody in India would have bothered about what happened to her. Instead, like a true mother and gutsy woman, she stayed back and groomed herself and her children for their legacy. It was a very very difficult and frightening task...given the fact that most in the Congress were ever ready to back-stab her and given the Gandhi family's bloody history of asasination!
I have nothing in favour of her as a politician but as a woman, I admire her a lot.

myLot reputation of 81/100. amirev777 (802)   ranked 192 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

hi
yeah i agree with u sudipta that she's been a real good mother-there's no doubt abt it-she has protected the interest of her children like only an indian mother cud do-i think after staying for so long in India-thats one quality she has truly imbibed.

myLot reputation of 84/100. tamildude3 (300)   ranked 33 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

Lets say that she was SONIA XYZ and not SONIA GANDHI. Would she have done the same thing that she has done today, that a question which is always debatable. SOnia Gandhi came into COngress because COngress knows of no other leader apart from the nehru-Gandhi family. Itz too dependent on one family. It has no real leaders or crowd pullers.!

myLot reputation of 81/100. amirev777 (802)   ranked 192 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

hi tamil dude
yeah i agree with u that sonia is what she is today is bcoz she has gandhi at the end of her name-otherwise she wud have been just an another-foreigner-who-married-an-indian-man.

myLot reputation of 74/100. vipinl (407)   ranked 5 out of 1,642 in india  7 months ago

"She stayed back and groomed herself and her children for legacy". Which legacy? the same about which you think has crossed all the limits, is it?..lol

myLot reputation of 90/100. sudiptacallingu (7064)   ranked 199 out of 1,642 in india  7 months ago

The legacy of ruling India one daylol and c'mon we all know that we Indians are responsible for this situation...our excessive obsession and feudal mentality of having a 'family'rule over us...much like the rajahs of yesteryears. Remember the slogans when Congress was in doldrum after Rajiv Gandhi's assasination...'Sonia lao, desh bachao'? She capitalized on that, smart lady and by renouncing the PM's chair in favour of Manmohan Singh, she further ensconced herself and her children into the Indian psyche. We are a nation of great hypocrites, at least that what we have become and she understood that and stayed back to take advantage of the family name for her children.

myLot reputation of 81/100. amirev777 (802)   ranked 192 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

hi john
yeah u r right-no history books will ever mention that-how can u expect that in a nation which has been ruled for 60 years by congress.Nehru,Indira and the congress party did its best to make the nation forget about feroze gandhi altogether.

myLot reputation of 84/100. tamildude3 (300)   ranked 33 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

John there is one saying about history which I remember "History is what winners and people in power write" Given that the congress was in power for 60 odd years, they had re-written every piece of history showin them and their leader in great light. Highlightin and givin info about Feroz would mean a blotch on the Nehru family and hence it was conviniently forgotten!

myLot reputation of 81/100. amirev777 (802)   ranked 192 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

hi
yeah even i was really surprised to hear that-but if that is true the entire nation needs to know abot it-she is worshipped by many as perhaps the best PM we ever had-but this shud expose the "other" side of her.but there are talks about her exta-marital affairs et all-but i dunno how far they are true.

myLot reputation of 84/100. tamildude3 (300)   ranked 33 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

i think BJP should be concentrating more on issues of the present and future, rather than How Indira Gandhi lived and other things of the distant past. SO I don think they will make a big issues of issues like these. And the day opposition party is fighting elections on issues like this, India would have have had a great government, which sadly will never happen!

call it democracy but politics in india wil never change whether we vote or not

Nehruji died, Feroz died, Indra Gandhi died, rajiv died, sanjay died........now what is the point of digging graves.....lets keep the respect of dead souls. After all, they were somehow connected to the welfare of our country and died for country.....I would rather concentrate on present.....lets see what history will be created by Rahul and varun. Lets hope they live long and act wisely to bring some good change for our country. thumbup

myLot reputation of 81/100. amirev777 (802)   ranked 192 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

hi
yeah i knw its no use digging past graves-i heard this piece of information which is really a news to my ears.and please for god's sake let us not consider it a prerogative of the nehru-gandhi clan to do something for this country.why only rahul and varun? i think any well qualified, law abiding citizen of India can bring a change if he really puts selfless hard work in that direction.

myLot reputation of 90/100. apsara60 (2063)   ranked 8 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

since your discussion was regarding Gandhi family, I mentioned only Rahul and Varun. Of course any sincere person can bring change in our country, depends if he will be allowed to do so........politics is a dirty game and I think we Indians know it better than anybody else whistle,

myLot reputation of 84/100. tamildude3 (300)   ranked 33 out of 1,642 in india  8 months ago

Well they all died. But they all died with the Image of being the most honest, and the most Holiest of people on earth. This discussion is to throw some light on the life of these people and let people know that the Nehru - Gandhi Family is not the best, morally superior family. According to me this family is FLITH and this discussion just re-enforces that notion!

I knew about that Indra Gandhi or her husband had any direct relationship with Mahatma Gandhi, but not about this whole story of cruise. Any one really cant imagine she was that romantic a person in early age.. after seeing what image she had of late.

Ironically, her father, Jawaharlal Nehru's affairs with various women, most talked about with Lady Mountbatten, are projrcted till date.
