Have you tried Lyrica? |
|
Lyrica helped my fibro, but my brain got fuzzy, so I stopped taking it. I'm taking Gabapentin. It doesn't work as well, but I don't get the fuzzies.

| 1. jwiz512 (47) | 9 months ago | I am sorry you have Fibro Myalgia as I have suffered from this for about 10 years myself. I don't think there is anything that really helps it. I am on strong pain medications however I needed to cut back on what the Doctor ordered because if not when I have to have Heart Stents or blockages cleared I can not be sedatted enough. I found that if I don't take as much pain medicine then I can get more relief when in surgery because some Doctors look down on you for being on those meds. Do you take Cyclobenzaprine or any type of muscle relaxer? I am also on those and xanax to calm my nerves. I find that most times with the combo together I get relief. Even when I get severe headaches like migrane which go on for days, I take what I call the cocktail. A pain pill, xanax and muscle relaxer and it usually does the trick. I never had any luck with the lyrica at all and have tried many different medications. I wish you luck but I think with this condition there is nothing to take all the pain away and we sometimes just have to suffer some. I hate to say that but I find myself in bed many days because I hurt so bad and can't move. I'm not as bad as I was in the beginning because back then I went to a wheelchair due to the number of problems I was having. I couldn't walk very far at all because my back would lock up on me and I wouldn't be able to move. Again, I wish you the best. I do want to add there is a site called What is Fibro Myalgia and if you google it and read everything there it sounds as though someone has been living in your body.

| 3. purpleiris777 (23) | 9 months ago | hi, i have not tried the lyrica...am also on gabapentin. have you discussed upping the dosage on the gaba? my doc told me some people are on very high doses. i take 300mg twice a day. i hear you though about the fuzzies aka fibro fog. there are days when i have a difficult time driving. processing all the motion is tough. i have tried both cymbalta and ambien(knocked me out too far!!!) neither helped me much.
i do massages weekly. omg i sleep soooo well after one(w/o my sleep meds). i approached a spa near me and asked about a discount as a repeat customer. that might work for you. my insurance does not cover "luxury" services!!!
also, please google eft. it is also called tapping. a form a accupuncture w/o needles. i do this daily. you can sign up for emails from gary craig (he demonstrates it). this will help you understand how to use eft for yourself. you don't have to spend the $$$on the dvds...there is a manual that you can download for free. i believe on page 19 are the tapping points. my chiro (who also has fibro) recommended epsom salt soaks in the tub. the magnesium is supposed to be good for aches!!! couldn't we all use that!get rest and take it easy on yourself. my doc told me to read, research, read. what works for some may not work for you. hugs, linda

lumenmom (868) | 8 months ago | I hear you on the massage. I feel so much better after getting one but I cannot afford them like I use to. My mobility is better, I am more flexible and the pain subsides significantly. I have also seen information on EFT, in fact I now get emails about it. I have not tried it yet, but I may in the near future.

| dalelynn21 (53) | 7 months ago | I am taking 300 mg once a day. I'll talk to my doctor about upping the dose. I haven't tried massage or tapping. Both sound very interesting. Thank you for your input.

4. lumenmom (868) | 8 months ago | I tried Lyrica but did not take it lng enough to know if it helps or not. I do not like to get the fuzzies either, which is why I refuse some of the meds like vicodin, ultram, and elavil. I have never tried gabapentin but I would be open to it if it does not make me feel crazy.

| dalelynn21 (53) | 7 months ago | I don't get the fuzzies on the gabapentin. It may affect you differently than it does me, but it's certainly worth a try.

5. ElicBxn (15593) | 8 months ago | Does it really help with fibro? I can't take Lyrica because they put corn starch in the pills, but I see that Gabapentin comes in a liquid form that (unlike the pills) is corn starch free. I'm wondering because I didn't see anything in the reports about it being prescribed for fibro... Could you please tell this hurting person more?

|
| dalelynn21 (53) | 7 months ago | According to my doctor it's what they used before Lyrica came along. It helps take the edge off for me, but I'm going to talk to the doctor about upping the dose.

6. jedopi (265) | 7 months ago | I was on this medication for over a year because my rheumatologist said that it is THE Fibromyalgia pill and it should help. Well, IT DIDN'T! All I got out of it was double vision every morning for about ten minutes. My symptoms did not improve or change in the least.
