Who do you think deserve the NBA MVP award? Kobe Bryant or Lebron James?  | | | |  For the NBA season 2008-2009, Kobe Bryant had an per game average of 26.8 points, 4.9 assists, 5.2 rebounds while shooting 46.7% from the field and led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 65-17 record, second in the league. KB24 is a proven superstar, a 12-year veteran and most importantly a 3 time NBA Champion. Lebron James had an per game average of 28.4 points, 7.3 assists and 7.6 rebounds while shooting 48.9% from the field and led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 66-16 record, first in the league. Lebron is an emerged superstar, only in his 6th NBA season and people are just waiting for him to become an NBA Champion, possibly even achieving that by this year's playoffs. Charles Barkley always believes that the best player from the best team should be the MVP. That might make sense, but does it still hold when the top 2 teams are just 1 game apart in both the win and loss column? Does that still stand when the argument is brought down to just between these 2 players, whose teams met twice in the regular season and Kobe Bryant's Lakers has walked away with 2 victories? | | for myself, i think both players deserve the MVP award. i mean, this is really a tough decision to make isn't it? the scary thing to me is, lebron has 7 years less of nba experience compared to kobe and we'retalking about lebron right here in this discussion. i agree with you that he is doomed to get the reward this year. however, if i have a vote ( i don't :( haha ) i would still go with kobe. he kept the lakers going since last year and proved that he can distribute and make this team work. i would 100% give the award to lebron if he shows that he can make this new team work long term. but once again, either way it goes, its MVP-justified. | | | |

| | Im a big Kobe fan since I can remember so it pains me to say that Lebron James is the MVP for this year. I still believe that Kobe is more skillful than Lebron however you cant help but appreciate Lebron's power and atleticism. I mean we have guy who is athletic in the Kobe/Jordan mode, a good passer in the Magic/Bird mode (meaning not necessarily PG's but have good court vision) and then finish that off with power in the Malone/D. Robinson mold. He is a friggin monster I havent seen a B-ball player as fast and as strong as him! but back to what makes him the MVP, the guy knows how to use his teammates well I mean when i watch a cavs game I just shake my head with those passes he makes at right exact time, he even makes Varejao look like an offensive threat with those passes, making teammmates better is an MVP quality not saying that Kobe doesnt but Lebron really works with less so he's the MVP for 08-09, as Bill Simmons would say: "I will now light my self in fire" for not choosing Kobe | | | | | | |

| |  Today is really the year of Lebron James, I guess. I think he would be the one who'll be awarded MVP. I don't deny that Kobe Bryant is indeed a great player but then, it seems to me that James outshined him this season. The Cavs' record this season is really great that's why they are not wanting James to get the MVP but they also want the Championship.

He lead the cavs to the best record in the NBA with limited minutes but very high fantasy numbers and he just evolve to one of the best defensive players in the league. He was actually the runner-up to Dwight Howard in the defensive player of the year award. Kobe got his 65 wins with the help of great teammates. Remove kobe in the lakers lineup and they can still make the playoffs and win 50 games. Remove lebron in the cavs and they cannot beat the worst team in the league (washington wizards)..
