Do your muscles ever get so achy that the only thing that will help is to stretch? Yet when you stretch it just seems to make it worse. I am at that point, I think it is because I am a petite little woman, and my boyfriend is quite large and when we sleep in bed, I have to curl up in whatever is left of the bed, and since he also moves in his sleep it isn't much. I am not sure that this is the cause but it is getting worse everyday... Does anyone have any suggestions for ointments or things I can do to get rid of these pains. I just want to stretch:(

I am a small woman and my husband is a large man, so I totally understand about having to share the bed!

I dont think that is your problem though. If you feel the need to stretch, that is probably exactly what your muscles need! Based on the information you have given, it sounds like your muscles arent getting enough blood flow. Stretching will help this problem. The blood flow will help get rid of any toxins in your muscles and also help provide oxygen.

If you have a job where you have to do the same thing over and over again, this might be leading to your problem. Any time your muscles are constantly doing the same thing (repetitive motion) they build up a memory of that. They try to make it easier to do that. But in doing so, there are other muscles that are affected to!

If your muscles are tight, heat helps quite a bit! This will also help with the blood flow. Heat is also relaxing, which will make it easier for you to stretch.

Try taking some time to stretch each morning and each evening. If you do have a job where you have a lot of repetitive motion, take a break in the middle to stretch. When you get home in the evening, use a heating pad on the muscles that are achy and then stretch some more. If you can, see about getting a massage. All of those things should help you!

Listen to your body and what it needs. By feeling like you need to stretch, that is just your body's signals. Creams and ointments can be good sometimes. But they can also mask the real problem. IF the problem persists, the best thing you can do is talk to your doctor. They can prescribe something to help relax your muscles or give you other advice as to what you can do.

Thank you very much for responding. I will take your advice and try to stretch more. I avoid it lately because it hurts almost as much as not stretching. And looks like I need to get a hobby and get out the house so my muscles don't do as you said.
