The games we play(ed).... | | | | During my first year of teaching, I asked my students to make a board game with science as the theme. One of my students raised a question which I did not expect. No, its not about how to make the project. The question was, "Sir, what is a game board?" I think most of the people of my age today grew up playing board games such as Monopoly, Snake and Ladders, or even chess. It was the best way to kill time, enjoy the company of your friends or relatives, and its not that expensive too. You dont need computers, just a bag full of chips and bottles of softdrinks are enough to fuel the fun the whole day while playing. The game of Monopoly is close to my heart. Me and my childhood friends in our province played it everyday, especially during summer vacation. It taught us a lot of values; honesty (especially when I am acting as the banker), fair play (I tried placing 5 hotels at Boardwalk), basic math (so they cant cheat me), and making decisions (to buy or not to buy?). Thinking of it probably inspired me to come up with such project for my students, and at the same time make them experience to draw cards or throw the dice. I wanted them to appreciate some parts that I went through in life. To show them that simple games can be so much fun, and not just by using computers which they are accustomed with nowadays. Can you share me some old board games that you play before? And please share some moments that you had while playing it. I guess I was too tied up with Monopoly that I cant remember the other games anymore, hehehehe! | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | My favorite growing up was risk. For a basically simple game we would spend hours in my friends basement playing. The last game we played was shortly before graduation, we played for about 14 hours and we had other places to go, we made a list of who had what and we put it in the box. I talked to my friend about it a few months ago and he was at his parents getting some things because they were moving and he found the list. It brought back some memories, the game will most likely never be finished since we lost touch with the other 2 players. I have candy land and chutes and ladders for my children and they love to play on a rainy day when we can't go out. It's such a great form of entertainment. | | | | | | | | deouscef (13)

| | That's such a nice story, and playing for 14 hours is something else. It would be awesome if by chance the four of you gets a reunion to finish the game. I've been dreaming of one day I get to roll the dice with my childhood friends once more. | | | | | | | Free Checkers Play Checkers For Free. | | When I was little we played outside a lot. There were those times when either the weather or darkness did not permit and we played games inside. Other times, we just played for sheer fun! I can rememeber long Monopolygames and we also played life, chess, checkers and dominoes! One year one of my sister got a game I haven't seen since, called "Trust Me". It was set up with these little briefcases. You rolled certain thngs and got chances to peek at a breifcase and find out what was in it. then you tried to sell it to other players. It might be a good deal, or a bad deal...hence, "Trust me". It was loads of bluffing fun! As my kids were growing up I had the tradition that each Christmas they each got a new board game. It gave us some great times learning how to playsome differnt games. We played Risk, Guess Who?, Yatzee and other standard games. We even discovered the Mad MagazineGame. It was great because you had to literally do everything backwards! I have some very fond memories with lots of friends and family members as we sat around numerous tables playing games and laughing until we cried! As we all got older it was our usual custom (and pretty much still is) to play games together. I had a sister-in-law and we played newer games like Balderdash and Taboo. We knew it was a good game when Connie cried! She was our meter!! Great memories!!! | | | | | | | | deouscef (13)

| | I usually do the crying meter thing when I'm teasing someone, hahahaha! I love that tradition of playing games during Christmas since its the best time of the year to have a get-together with friends and relatives, not to mention the endless supply of gifts and prizes for the winners. | | | | macdingolinger (4924)

| | lol! That's great! We never thought about prizes or gifts! We were more on the poor side and so playing was it's own reward!! And we all made memories to keep alive for years!! | | | | | | | Top Rated Toy Stores Need Top Rated Local Toy Stores? yellowpages.com | add comment | | | |

| | Wow you totally remind me my childhood now. I just love the game Monopoly, and I always played it with my little sisters, and our neighbers. Snake and ladders was also a great game we used to play, and I think my sister always won me. Chess is a game my dad taught me how to play, and I was very good in it, but since I didn't play it a lot I forgot how to play, and now I don't know. I wish I could go back to those times, or even start to play those games once again with my family. | | | | | | | | deouscef (13)

| | I feel the same way... My childhood friend lives in front of our house in our province. We usually play Monopoly in their place. Everytime I go home, I use to smile as I recall the things that we did before, but now its pretty impossible since we have our own lives and practically we lost the bond. | | | | | | | Free RPG -Adventure Quest Fight monsters with magic or might. 100’s of weapons, armors, and pets www.battleon.com | add comment | | | |

| | some of my favorite games were monopoly, clue.. and Yahtzee. You are so right that we could spend hours as a family in the evenings playing games, and talking and having a good time. But the important thing is that we were together enjoying each others company. | | | | | | | | | | Play Checkers Free Online Play Checkers Absolutely Free Online. | | Hi:-) You must be 40 years old or more...I myself am 48 years...I didn't like Monopoly, but I liked chess...in my surroundings there is no child that plays chess...my own children showed no interest for that game...todays children are interested in internet and chat...it is frustrating that I can do nothing to pursue them to go out and spend more time enjoying sun & nature...can you? | | | | | | | | | | games Play 100s of Free Games.
