Can good manners really benefit you?

I'm not really sure if good manners will bring you good fortune or good luck per say, but I do think that good manners should be apart of our every day lives nonetheless. It's all apart of how you were raised. My Mom was very strict with us kids reguarding our manners. We were never allowed to disrepect anyone that was older then us, never allowed to ask for anything in someone's home unless it was offered to us, & if we were on a bus or a tarin & we saw an older person or pregnant woman standing then we were to get up & offer them our seat. Thanks to my Mom's teachings we have carried these rules reguarding manners into our adult lives.

In the case you mentioned I don't think a person should keep a job that he is not performing well at just becasue he has good manners. They are two distinct things. I can be an excellent worker and have good manners, or an awful worker and have bad manners..now if I worked in a cubical and never had to interact with another human being, then I guess it would not matter if I had bad manners. The problem with people today-not a lot of people have good manner... Good manners also means not yakking on your cell phones at the top of your voices in a doctor's office, restaurant, etc. I don't want to hear your conversations. That's bad manners and adults are the worst at it....I don't want my phone conversations to be overheard, so why do you think I want to overhear yours? I don't...put the freaken cell phones away in doctors offices, restaurants or any other place where your conversation isn't wanted. Use good manners.

I guess the way I see it is, regardless of whether or not its beneficial I think that having good manners and being polite etc is just the right way to be....i would wonder about a person who used good manners solely because they thought it would get them ahead somehow or they would gain something from it...ppl should be polite, kind and compassionate etc becuase its the right way to be..

yes.a good manners person can give others good impressions.we well fell that kind of person very kind.very easy to understand or to get along with.who want to make friends with bad manners person?you?i dont think so.right?we all like to chat with that kind of person in our heart.really.there is nothing wrong to like that kind of person.and we should make ourselves to be more polite to have good manners.so we can have more friends.we can get more help.we can give others good impressions.

Of course, good manner will bring some benefits to your life. Sometimes, the good manner can help you out of the difficult situation, even save your job, like you said. Good manner makes people more polite and more clever to deal with person. Absolutely, people all like the person who is smart and with the polite attitude. In other words, most of the arguments came from person's rude behavior. So, good manners are really important for us to live in the society. $-$ Happy each day!^-^

Yes it is true but it will work sometimes and sometimes not.It also depends on other variables like what kind of the boss is ...and what situation demands if it is seen that you need workers who are more efficient and productive though some audacity is with them but their productivity is manifold and the boss wants result he will go for the later ones so good manners are meaningless in this kind of situation...but most cases people like people with good manners ..so it depends

Well, yes. I think so. If you will look at the word "good manners", then you will know that it is beneficial. Beneficial is the same as good, you see. Ok, enough with that. It's actually the way how you interact with people that can save you from most of the mishap in the world. By the way, about the man who was saved by good manners in losing his job, he's indeed very lucky...

Yes good manners, does make a whole lot of differents, if you are polite with people and show good manners this goes a long way, your up bringing helps you a lot, and how you treat other people,make you look good also, but if you are nasty to people,and are quick to get angery, with everyone this will hurt you a lot.

a good and well behaved person is liked by all. It is a good virtue. Now, a person can well-behaved (especially children ).

yes good manners can do a lot of positive things, it can give you a job and even open doors of opportunities for you, especially in places where even your qualifications may not matter, good manners on the other hand may make people look down on you as a person, but no matter what, you need to continue practising good manners at all times
