12th birthday party  email this discussion to a friend?

My twin daughters are turning 12 at the end of the summer. I am struggling over what kind of party to have for them. We have done the skating, the miniature golf party, the drive-in movie party, the swimming party, the go-kart party, the back yard carnival party and before friend parties, we had just family parties. Any ideas for me? I want them to have a good time but not spend a ton of money. Although money is not a huge issue, they are 12, not 16. Please send me some ideas!

Please tell me that it gets easier as they get older (triplet mom here)

How about a slumber party in which the girls go on a scavenger hunt. Divide them up in to two teams have two different adults that walk with them. They have say an hour and they knock on neighbors doors and ask for things on the list. It has to be stupid crazy things. like a two week old news paper.
Bobby Pin
etc.
you can find great list all over the internet.

we did this for my baby sister when she was that age and it was the HIT party of the year.

OMG that is such an awesome idea! We live in a small town and have great neighbors so that would be so cool and they would love it. Their friends are great kids too. Thanks sooo.... much. How old are your three.

They just turned five years old.. OMG I have so long to go.

For the party we did a cookie cake and let the girls decorate it and after the scavenger hunt we ordered pizza and let the girls dance in the living room in their t'shirts and panties.

She is getting married this weekend, Saturday in fact. Friday night the girls are all staying at our beach house (beach wedding, she asked me if we can do a grown up scavenger hunt that night) so we are. We are also doing t shirt dancing and pizza.. how fun, most of the girls that were there when she turned 12 will be with us, they have remained such good friends over the years. it will be a blast.

Wow I am so glad to hear that you've done a lot of parties for your kids. I am a mother of one and my son will turn one October of this year. I am also thinking of a good party for him. I think KungFu Panda is a good one. Since you have daughters my suggestion is a Barbie Party because next year they will be turning on their teenage years and games are no longer nice for birthday parties. So this is the last year of their childhood years so maybe Barbie theme is good. Another suggestion is for you to try something that is high-tech like 2050 costume party wherein the guests should wear something like computers, tiny chips, rockets etc etc that will describe the modern science on 2050. Anyway it is still up to you. Maybe my suggestions are costly but you can still make them just enough so that others can afford to produce their own costumes. Anyway advance Happy 12th Birthday to your twins. I wish I could have twin too but I do not want to experience the pin of giving birth again lol!

OMG,you have done so much for your children!I think you are really a great mother. I'm still a college student and I've never had any kinds of birthday party. But it didn't stop me enjoy my birthday with my family every year. I guess your two girls must be very lovely.
How about teaching them to make a big birthday cake with their own hands? It seems a bit difficult but a lot fun! Indeed, that's exactly what I want to do when I was about 10. It is just a little advice and maybe you can try something similar and more interesting or meaningful. And as I see it, nothing will be better than getting the families together and sharing the result of our labour.
