My credit card will not let me increase my credit limit

I have a credit card and I want to purchase a Macbook pro, but I guess I cannot. I have to buy a not as good a lap top. I do have the money to pay for it, or at least I will have in a couple of months or sooner. Now this credit card gives me points and I have been paying it off every month. I can transfer the cash from my high interest savings account to pay for part of it. But what I want to do is this:1) find out how much the item cost plus tax. And then 2)Transfer that into my checking account and wait 10 days for it to clear 3)Transfer that money into my credit card account 4) charge the item since I already paid for it as well. I have an HBC Mastercard Credit Card and live in Canada. Will that work and be acceptable to them? Or else I could put part or all of on my debit card. But I will miss the points. What do I do?

You could layby it which I believe for your side of the world is the same as put away or something like that. Any way, it is where you purchase an item, have the store put it away until you pay it off. With that option, you could still use your credit card to pay it off, get your points and get the item you really wanted. It just comes down to knowing what all your options are. There is also instore finance, but if you choose that option, pay more than the minimum payments as the minimum payment is only the interest that was due for that month and doesn't actually cover any of the costs of the items.

I was thinking of doing that. I do need a new laptop, because we will be staying at a motel. I also need a new bookcase because my sons got rid of the one I had.

Could you pay part with cash and put all that you can on the card? That way you can get at least part of the points.

That sounds like a good idea. I do get Airmiles with my debit card. It is just that I do not want to charge it and have to pay so much a month.
