I think everyone has their own system for organizing recipes. My mom has a recipe box. I have seen some other people who have a notebook in which they have written recipes. I think some people probably store them all on their computer now!
A couple years ago, I was looking for a way to store my recipes that would be easy to look through and easy to store. My mom had always had her recipes on index cards, so I came up with an idea! I took my Kohl’s coupon and went to the photo frames and albums section. I found a simple photo album for horizontal 4x6 photos.
Now I write all of my recipes on 4x6 cards. I put each card in the photo album. They are easy and quick to flip through. I can easily store it on the bookshelf. I can leave the cards in the sleeves or take them out. If I leave them in, it is easy clean up if I spill something on it! They are behind plastic so I just use a damp rag to clean them off!
How do you store recipes? What is the most unique method you have ever seen?

I am pretty boring in my storage I have a bit of everything. I have several recipe books, that I have bought or been given to me with bookmarks and such, I also have notebooks with recipes, index cards and both written and video recipes on my computer. Your system seems very well thought out and practical. Every so often I redo my notebooks which tend to get the worse for wear as well as my index cards which I have at times lost. I have been slowly copying and saving my favourite recipes onto my computer I intended to print them out and go to the store to have them bound but your idea of having a simple photo album seems to be a better option. I have been working on getting my recipes on CD/DVD that organize them alphabetically and someone told me there is a program that even sorts the recipes by ingredients with images and music so that I can put them on when in the kitchen and use my notebook as a shopping guide to buy things I need for the recipe.

Wow! It seems that you have tried everything!
I have thought about putting all of my recipes on the computer. But the thought of typing them all up just seems to be too much! That one program does sound really cool, though!
One of the things I liked best about the photo album was they are pretty cheap! I am still in the process of gathering recipes (I probably always will be!), so the fact that I can change the order of them if I want to is very helpful. Once the book is full, I will probably get seperate books for main dishes, side dishes and sweets.
Good luck on finding a system that works for you!
