How much does your dog mean to you?

I heard on the radio a few days ago about a couple who were walking their dogs with their 7 month old kid, the dogs jumped in the river and both parents went in the river to save the dogs. The parents and the dogs all died and the 7 month old is left a orphan! This happened in Scotland and is a tragic story. I was just wondering how much your dog means to you and if you would risk your life for your dog?

My dog is a very good friend. If there is a friend that I completely trust, it's my dog. Unlike human, they don't have a tendency to cheat. We spend many time together, mainly on training and enjoying life. When I say anything to her, she understands..

Well I have had my dog now for 10 years and I do love him but to jump in the river when I can't swim I don't think so especially that I have a 3 year old granddaughter that I love to pieces. I can't believe that both parents would jump with a 7 month old child. How tragic and stupid at the same time. Why did both have to jump leaving the child alone.
