i cant remember where i found this nice article. can anyone tell me where I did see this?
But here it is: Ways to become Immortal.
1. Plant a tree
2. Write a book
3. Bear a child.
I think that i can become immortal in my children's memories if I teach them great, noble things and these teachings would pass on to my entire generation.
What are your thoughts?

I can see how those three things could possibly make your memory last forever.
Planting a tree, sure providing nobody destroys it in years to come!
Writing a book, hopefully many people will read it and pass it on.
Bearing a child, yes that would do it! The day my daughter was born I was overjoyed and I remember thinking, “She is one of the reasons I am here and if I achieve nothing else in my life, this is enough, I have a great purpose..."
What greater objective than to guide and teach another human being through life?
I pray that I do well!

The best thing you said is that even if you achieve nothing else in life, having a child is enough for you. I also wish you well on your great purpose for your daughter. I know that you'll be a great mom. thanks for responding!

hmm oh yeah...i forgot that these are ways to become immortal?? i thought they were proofs or something or ways to prove that you are a real woman...hehehehe...anyway, those are really good ways to leave a mark in this world.
plant a tree ----- sometimes trees have long life spans and they live for so many years..so when you plant one its means that it has become a part of you and that you are the co-maker of that tree...it lives for a long time and it bears your grace of planting it. you are immortalized through that tree which gives life...
write a book ---- a book would always be a part of a bookshelf and when someone reads it you will always be remembered and be immortalized through your thoughts and ideas in that book.
Bear a child --- well only a woman can bear a child not a man... haha! anyway, through your child you pass on your genes, your ways, your knowledge, your wisdom, your care...you are also immortalized in your child and your children's children.
peace =)

Having children isn't about passing your knowlege, its about passing your genes to the next generation.
For example, my parents were each children with one sibling. My mom's brother had one child, my father's brother had 2, my parents had 3. Of my cousins and my sibs, only my brother had a child. So, until she has a child, my parent's genetic material basically ends with her.
I picked up a comic SF novel recently where only the stupid people had children for so long that any one with a 70 IQ (that's the lowest "normal" level before a person is considered retarded) were considered geniuses.
And, I have to say, I certainly see where the writer is getting that. I can't say that I approve of the Dugger's choice in life style (but remember, I don't like kids) but at least they are reproducing intellegence - I'd hate to think that in 500 years the smartest people were all be decended from the Duggers....
