The major controversy over Taj Mahal was that after the construction of the Taj, the fingers of the workers and artisans were cut off. Now this could have been symbolic as in he told these workers and artisans never to work again. Which is as bad as cutting their fingers off.

But when I visited Taj as a student of History, we were stopped from entering many places and rooms which looked out of place in a building like that. But then that time we were young and naive and no one really made us aware of a second controversy over Taj Mahal. One which you cannot totally just brush away because it has a very logical explanation. I received an email years ago and the logic given appealed to my logical part of the brain. And suddenly realize that yes there are many rooms inside the building which the general public not allowed to enter.

Here above are two articles regarding the controversy. Now I am discussing this as something against the muslim. It is just a historical building over which a controversy remains. Why are people so afraid of the book written by oak who initiated the theory. Why, if it really is a mughal construction, is the taj trust not opening the sealed rooms and allowing the international experts investigate and close this controversy for final. If it is truly a monument of the mughal period then the trust should have no fear of investigation. If they refuse, they just let suspicion creep into everyone's mind. And this is not a hindu muslim thing. It is not just a Hindu claiming this. It is claimed by a number of international experts. And it is still not going to take anything away from the taj. It is just about putting histories straight.

there are lots of lies being spread around for more than 350 years about what is taj, who constructed it and so on. our history books are fudged and lies are passed off as authentic history. incidents which did not take place in connection with taj are now associated with it.

P.N.Oak has exposed the real story and that led to his controversial book - Taj Mahal was Rajput Palace - banned in India by the then prime minister Mrs. indira gandhi to appease her muslim vote bank.

Those who have read the book will definitely start thinking as to if Mr.Oak is wrong or the traditional historians? I find the questions raised by Oak to very logical and appropriate. We should not take everything for granted that historians dished out as authentic.

His source of information are from Shahjahan's own court chronicles where there is no mention of any construction is mentioned other than about taking over a magnificent palace from Raja Jaisingh in exchange for empty plot with the sole purpose of burying the emperor's wife. one thing to be noted is that muslims during medieval age had a habit of destroying or appropriating hindu places of worship and just modifying here and there by destroying idols and carving and then claiming it as their own creation.

shahjahan during his tnure of 27 years as emperor for close to 48 battles all over his territory. most of these involve extensive travel. aurangzeb, shahjahan's son while going to take charge as governor of deccan region wrote a letter to emperor stating how he ordered temporary repairs to the dome of the structure to prevent water from dripping on to the cenotaph during monsoon. that exposes the myth that it took 22 years to construct the taj. it indicates that a ready made structure was forcibly taken over and the dead body was merely buried there and a cenotaph over it was erected.

He quotes couple of travelers' memoirs and compares them with others to fish out the truth. he argues that the whole design of taj conforms with indian vedic architecture perfectly. he also questions how it is against the islamic belief to exhume dead bodies and to bury it again at another place.

I found the book to be very investigative and interesting as it drives one to think logically. Rather than explaining everything here i would prefer to see every body here read it and verify the facts themselves. Anybody who wants the book can PM me. i will send you the link to download the book.
