It has been 2 years since I last went to the eye doctor. The glasses I currently wear are horribly bent. I am always adjusting them. Once they get bent, it seems impossible to get them to return to their orginal state!
The lens have some scratches on them. Im not really sure how that happened, but there they are. Maybe it is because I am always using whatever I can to clean them off! I dont understand how glasses attract dirt so quickly!
I am also beginning to wonder if my prescription has changed. There are some signs that have gotten harder to read. Maybe that is just because my glasses are so badly bent!
Regardless, I know that it is time to go get new glasses. I just dont want to spend the money on them!
How do you know when it is time for new glasses? How often do you go for new glasses? Do you think that glasses are too expensive?

Hello there. Getting new eyeglasses would be so much fun. It is just like renewing your look because the frame of the eyeglasses you would be buying would change your appearance. I have had few frames already and I could say to you that you know it would be time for new eyeglasses when your doctor tells you so. You should have at least a checkup every six months I guess, or depending on your condition. The doctor would be the one to check your eyesight using the snellen chart and other tools to check if something needs to be changed for your eyeglasses. Regarding the cost of getting new eyeglasses, well it depends on the brand and type of lenses you would be getting. The new models and highly developed lenses would definitely cost more expensive than the usual ones. But with that, a better quality is assured. You could go to the mall and canvass prices of models you like, the lenses and if there is warranty. Some stores offer free fixing of frames for slightly damaged or something, you just need to look in to many different stores first because you might find a much affordable priced eyeglasses since they price it differently. Good luck on having new eyeglasses!

Unfortunately, my glasses are always expensive because I always need the special lenses! My vision is terrible so they have to process my lenses so that they arent so thick - and I dont have a choice. But it is definitely worth the expense so that I can see!
Thanks for the advice!

I have only ever owned 3 pairs of glasses and I've been wearing them for about 12 years now. So I guess that averages out to a new pair about every 4 years. For the past 8 years though I've been mainly wearing contacts. I just wear my glasses at night, before bed. I would say once your glasses are getting scratched and even bent it's time for a new pair. My guess would be like every 5 years buy a new pair. If your glasses are in excellent condition come the 5 year point though I guess there is no need to get a new pair!
