Some of you may remember me whinging about my housemate not doing any house work & I was sick of trying to tell her....Anyway, I ended up writing a VERY rude note & putting it on the fridge basically saying that if you do not pitch in with house work, I will do it & charge an hourly rate for my time & if you didn't like those 2 options, then find somewhere else to live...Ever since then, she has been pitching in - not as much as I'd like her to do but at least she is now doing something instead of nothing like she was previously :)

wow. at least it worked a little bit. I can say at least you have done better than me. I can't get the other 3 in my house to do a little bit of house work. The only thing that I really ask for them to do is, the kids to keep their room tidy, and pick up after themselves. For my husband really to pick up after himself. He has his own room for his computer toys but I am not worried about that and to put his own clothes away after I fold them. It is not alot to ask of them but none of them do as I would like them too. So you have done better than me.

I understand what you're saying - my hubby does help a bit but I don't expect him to because he goes & works & I stay at home with our 2 year old daughter...My daughter does help but as you can understand, she is more of a hinderance at her age lol

I have had a little chat with my husband and said that what I would expect. It is certainly not asking to much. Your little 2 y.o. would be able to help when your 2 y.o. becomes 9 y.o. and 14 y.o. I wouldn't mind it so much if I wasn't working from home. Most of the time is spent on my own work. Long hours for little pay. Just to make ends meet. It is one reason why it is nice to have some help.

That's the way to do it. We thought about doing that to our roommate at one point but the thing was, it was a school apartment and it's not like she would have done anything anyway. She would have complained to her mommy or something and she would have done it or fixed the entire situation for her. Good riddance that she is gone.

I can't imagine not pitching in and doing 50 - 50 of the housework. Why are people so lazy? I have seen many a shows on tv where peoples houses across america are disgustingly dirty. Room upon rooms filled with garbage. How do people live like that. I will never understand it. I'm glad she is helping a bit more. Good Luck to you!
