we dont eat out anymore... when my family wants to eat burger, i make it home instead, cheaper...
meats are cut smaller in smaller portion now, and have more vegetables when cooked. most of the time i used cubes (pork, beef, chicken) to add more flavor.
our car runs on water since last year, but we still use gas on it, we just saved 70% because of the hydrogen fuel, my husband made the device himself.
i planted some vegetables on free space of soil... i have tomatoes now, harvested some already, have bell peppers too, and malunggay (also called horseradish) leafy vegetable.

These are all very good tips. Every little cut-back helps us meet the recession head on. Kudos to your husband for making such a saving device for your vehicle!
To save on gasoline expenses myself, I drive much less now, consolidate errands, and fill the tank when gas prices are at their lowest. I also make sure the car is maintained to be as energy efficient as possible.
I seldom eat out any more, either, and when I do cook, I always make extras for the freezer that only require reheating. I buy the cheaper cuts of meat in family-sized packages, since they are less expensive per pound. I then divide the packages into smaller portions for the freezer when I get home.
Thank you for your tips. : )

I've always lived on a pretty tight really anyway but with the cost of food going up like it is I've started shopping more carefully and growing my own vegetables. None of them are ready to eat yet so I'm still having to buy vegetables from the super market, though I did use some home grown basil earlier.

Kudos on the garden. I miss being able to have a large one, but do love to grow tomatoes and green peppers in pots on the patio outside my apartment. I love to buy whatever fruits and veggies are on sale at the grocery store. Every way we save adds up, yes?
Thank you for the input.
