Sherlock Holmes 2009  | |  I've always loved the stories, and I caught a preview for the upcoming movie on TV the other day. Anyone else looking forward to the movie or have any opinions on it?

Apparently they are making Sherlock chase skirts, the drugs are going to be glossed over, and he is going to have a lighter air about him. Which is not canon at all. I was actually looking forward to the new movie, but then I heard all this, and then saw that Robert Downey Jr. is going to be playing Sherlock.
I think Jude Law is playing Watson. That I think will be for canonically based. But still it's like the new Star Trek to me, why are they going to remake it, if they are doing it poorly? But you know... hopefully it'll be better than I think and have heard. But I will probably still attend the premiere at our theater with my aunts.

| crimsonladybug (1874) | 7 months ago |  An off topic side note based on a flag you sent up....Star Trek is not a remake, it's a prequel and I don't know about Chris Pine as Kirk but they couldn't have gone into a lab and built a better young Spock than they got with Zachary Quinto.

If you go to the IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes and search for Sherlock Holmes you get the 1939 Hound of the Baskervilles with the new movie nowhere to be found. You have to search for it through the back door, as it were, by searching for one of the stars then linking to it from their page.
As for Robert Downey Jr....the last clear, vivid image I have of him as an actor is as a psycho killer tormenting Annette Benning in In Dreams. I've seen some of his other pictures since then - Zodiac, Gothika, Charlie Bartlett - but none of those roles stand out in my mind as memorable the way Vivian Thompson did. | |
