Shampoos and conditioners often contain harsh chemicals that can hurt our hair instead of helping it. Also, for some people, washing their hair every day is just too much- it strips the hair of natural oils and leaves it dry. I think this is especially true for people with curly hair. If you are washing your hair every day, maybe you could try washing it only every other day or every two days. Another thing you can try is to go without shampoo entirely. It sounds crazy, I know, but for the past month I have been washing my hair with baking soda and rinsing it with apple cider vinegar. I have not used any shampoo or conditioner, and my hair is in great condition. For curly hair, mix 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda in 1 cup of water, and pour the mixture in your hair, making sure that all of your hair get soaked with it. Use your fingers to scrub your scalp, and then rinse out the baking soda. Then, add 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 1 cup of water, and pour that through your hair. Let it sit for a couple of minutes and then rinse. The baking soda cleans without harsh chemicals, and apple cider vinegar is a natural softener. Depending on your hair chemistry, you might need to adjust the amounts in each solution, but it is well worth the effort.

jojoba oil is a really good hot oil treatment used on dried out hair. It works best when heated up but you can use it cold also. Other alternatives are mayo and honey. Mayo works great, but I personally can't stand the smell... honey is sticky and should be iluted with water and rinsed well. I think the jojoba is the easiest. You can find it in hair supply stores.

Try moisturizing your hair more often. For me, I often rub warm oil into my hair, leave it on overnight, then rinse it off in the morning. I also condition, using Pantene conditioner. Try giving your hair a hot oil or a coconut milk conditioning treatment... it's good for moisturizing dry and damaged hair...
