Ugh! Can you believe that time of year will be here again soon? I mean don't get me wrong I love having my kids home, but it is also nice to get that little break all to myself. Well, my question is, with this whole recession thing going on, and gas prices probably about ready to soar sky high again, what do other mothers do with there children on summer vacation?

we took our children camping and next week we are going to a water park and some time in aug or early sept we are taking them to myrtal beach , we are going to drive there i have a giant eagle card that can help me save on gas so i am going to keep adding it up so we save some money on that and all the money i make on the net from the diffrent things i do on here i save the money to help pay for family things so it all seems to work out for us. i find ways to save like we are saving money for next summer as well because we plane on going to flordia for a week so it should be nice.

Well my children are grown but I do have a 3 year old granddaughter that I watch. You don't say how old your kids are or the gender but, I keep my granddaughter busy outside with a sandbox, a sprinkler toy so she can run around in swimsuit. She also has a bouncing toy with balls in it. We also go for walks around the block. I have a fairly large yard and she loves to walk around the yard watching for rabbits in the yard or picking up pretty rocks. If the weather is to hot or rainy she likes to watch the educational shows on tv or her favorite movies. But she also will go in her bedroom and play with her toys or read her books. She also likes to help me bake or make pudding or jello. I remember when my kids had summer recess I loved it because I found it to be a break for myself in getting clothes ready for school, dealing with them getting out of bed in the morning, dealing with hours of homework and projects. Depending on the ages I would just set up some type of schedule for the kids either playing outside, taking them to the park, or day trips to places that would interest them but won't cost alot. Some people put their kids in day camp or camp away. I'm sure there are some camps that you could find that are not so expensive especially day camp. Maybe once a week and afternoon movie at the theater- the prices in the afternoon are cheaper. You could also teach them some hobbies that they might find of interest individually. Maybe jewelry making, making model cars. If they are older maybe candle making or unless they are already into some type of hobbie that they enjoy. Good Luck and try to enjoy the company of your kids. They grow up so fast and than you wonder where the time went.

well my kids are older, but still they need to be entertained. i guess for us, we will be going to the beach a bit more because its free plus, i hope my older one gets a job too. we visit the library over the summer and we do arts and crafts (we have 2 girls) but they are on vacation for 8 weeks and that makes it a long summer! (especially when they dont know what to do with themselves.)
