Can anyone else see the irony in the following:

Formula 1 Motor Racing have stopped advertising cigarettes on their cars and on the hoardings around the tracks, however they are STILL advertising alcoholic beverages on the hoardings. Surely this should be stopped or are they trying to advocate drink-driving?

No they are not advocating drinking and driving. But at least if you drink responsibility you are hurting noone but yourself. Cigerettes kill everyone around them. Second hand smoke is deadly to everyone that happens to walk by and inhale it. Drinking only affects the drinker. There is not a driver on the circute they would ever thnk of drinking and driving. They just need sponsers and nascar fans enjoy a few drinks (some more than others). Everything works out in the end

I think you'll find drinking affects more than just the drinker. Some people drive cars and kill people after drinking, some become violent after drinking, I could go on.

I will never disagree with that statement as it has happened in my own family and we lost a young member of the family to a drunk driver. But that was against the law and smoking is not. You are allowed by law to smoke and kill yourself and your family slowly along with others you smoke around. I simply believe that you can drink and not break the law by driving, and if you cannot then you should loose your freedom. As long as smoking is legal there is little that can be done about those that are harmed by it. Simply being in a place where someone has smoked, can put some people in the hospital with a severa asthma attack, the freedom of those people to be in public has been taken away and will not be returned as smokers will not stop or cannot stop and they seem to think they can smake anywhere and it does not affect anyone but them. Smokers do not realize what they are doing to those who are very allergic to the smell of smokers. And if they do they do not care or can not stop. I am not sure I am making my feelings clear. I have been a on the receiving end of both things smokers and drunk drivers, but not every person that takes a drink on occassion drives while drunk, just as not every person that smokes does it often and I am sure that they wash and keep their clothes from smelling enough to put others in the hospital. But abuse does exist, but the is no penality for smokers like there is for drinking and driving
