You use fork all time for eating, or like to eat by hand too?

I use spoon or spoon and fork than fork alone for most of the dish. Because it is always with rice. if it's only bread or pasta or anything that can be eaten by one piece then I use fork. Otherwise, we could have used chop sticks.

yeah my mother eats by her right hand when she could have used spoon and fork because she grew up that way, 1940s 1950s.spoon might be probably existing my then, but maybe it's not metal, maybe made of some wood or anything, or maybe they are just not using it their family at home, not sure. So she might reminisce those time eating with her parents and she says she can eat with spoon but it doesn't give her satisfaction. And I have also do what I did when I was a child,because that's the first thing I can remember I was taught how to eat by myself.

But I gave it up when I met spoon and fork, and find it easier and cleaner. have no problem with it. But Mom is old, no way of changing her. Seen people older than her that could adapt to newer methods, but in certain things she just like the old.

I know people who won't even pick up a chicken leg with their fingers. I think that is being a little uptight. I'll eat chicken pieces, pizza, stuff like that with my fingers. Sometimes, I'd just rather have a trough and put my face right in it! But it's socially unacceptable here, so I don't!

I use fork when I needed to specially in occasions that formality is observed. But on casual dining I can use my hands.
I do love eating using my clean bare hands during cultural traditions and occasions around my place. Others may seen be using spoons and forks but on the contrary of enjoying eating with bare hands, I do love to eat like that.

Well, I am from India and here in India there are some provinces where people eat their staple food with hands only. They don't use spoons or forks at all. But for me it depends on the kind of food you are going to eat. Like it's not good to eat noodles with hands and to eat pizza with fork.

I grew up eating with fork and knife. It all depends on country and tradition. In Europe everyone eats with fork and knife. In America people use mostly fork, knife only when cutting. In Ethiopia people eat with hand. Indian food tastes the best when eaten with fingers, however it is very important to eat with your right hand only (left is reserved for...hmm... toilet)...
Good Manners in India are not acceptable in Europe or America and Vice Versa.
I respect country tradition. I think that the proper way is to make sure to eat with clean hands, small portions and with grace....

for me it depends when i am at the restaurant i use spoon and fork. if i am at home eating fish or barbeque i diffenately use my finger, finger food are fun i think eating using your hands are more comfortable, in my country its a normal thing its one of our culture back home in philippines.

Well, in some countries like India, eating by hand is not considered rude. This is a tradition for them. It may be because such civilizations are standing for a long time and they are using the traditions since the time immemorial. For example the tradition of marriage. However, some likes it as their hobby. They could not afford eating with spoon or fork. I live in India, and the customs here are very free. You are free to live your life as you want. It is virtually up to you to use a spoon or your hand.
Nevertheless, in parties or any civilized function people avoids to eat by hand to show their dignity.
In the view of Science, if we look around eating by hand is not considered hygienic. In numerous germs occupy your hand and when you go to eat without even have a good wash of your hands, you may prone to many stomach related diseases like diahorrea, cholera etc. So eating by spoon or fork is a good habit. And one should follow this leaving behind the old traditions.

welp..I eat with both a fork and my fingers...there is just some food you got to touch with your fingers but now sometimes I will use my fingers with meat and my fork with side dishes..eating with your fingers are fun...hehe.

i dont know if your filipino, i havent check your profile. Here in the philippines, most of the people here used hands for eating. Actually, you will recornized poor and rich people by their way of eating. Most of poor people, they used their hands, and rich never tried to used their hands. They always used spoon and fork. As for me, when i eat, i always used spoon and fork (Im not rich) because of health reason and also it is proper. but sometimes i used my hand when im eating seafoods, like crabs, shrimp and sometimes when im eating chicken. But i make sure my hands are clean.

I am from India and here we eat by using hands.I like to eat by hand but some food items can be consumed only via fork.

so i use fork too.But really saying i like to eat only by hand.
