A easy way to start to talking with somebody? Pets and kids..?

Sometimes I find it easy to talk to people, sometimes I just don't feel like talking and that can be a problem when they want to talk to me. I do not know why people would want to talk to me. Cheers!!

I have had long conversations on the streets when I take Lola for a walk. I don´t do it everyday as the girl is getting to be very big and strong and she is absolutly afraid of dogs. So it´s difficult to know whether I should drag her while telling her there´s no harm or to just go back home before she breaks my hand. She is a german shepherd puppy (almost 6 months old). But people we come across are other thing. She loves human beings ( she doesn´t yet know dogs are better) and that´s where we start to talk.
I don´t know whether I´ll make friends that way but it is less lonesome. And Lola behaves when there´s other people around. Just a show though: she is a pest at home and has left me with no garden
