Do your parents ever treat you sibling better than you?

my mum has always seen my brother as the golden boy and has always treated him differently to me and my sister, even though he used to beat us up wehn he was younger. She lent him over £3,000 and when I even ask to borrow £3.00 I get shouted at by her.

I'm the baby of the family and the ONLY girl. So yeah, I'm a little spoiled. But as an adult my two older brothers got a little more help than I did. They had kids too. My mom figured since they had families they needed the help more than I because I was single. It didn't bother me too much though. She tried to help all three of us equally.

I recently had this discussion with my parents last month. My mom openly admitted that she is tends to favor my little brother. According to her, since I am more self efficient and independent I do not need her to coddle me or support me to the same extent as my brother. She really believes that being tougher on me then she is on my brother is the right parenting approach. At first I was pissed off, but then I came to the conclusion that if she really believes in this warped view of how a parent should treat siblings then so be it, after all she has been actively engaged in this behavior for 21 years and I doubt she is going to change anytime soon. Besides I am and always will be a daddy's girl.

I was always treated different i got grounded for simple things and was always in some kind of trouble. i was looking for attention but instead got labled trouble.All eyes were on me i was walking thin line so i started getting into trouble on purpose and being disobedient to my parents. know today im still treated the same and their treated like angels and do worse than what i did when i was thier age its all good though because they got a lot to learn in life and life is a B***ch with permenant pms. i done been down the hard way and thier headed the same but whose to blame? All eyes on me like Tu Pac right

i can sympathize. when my add got sick, my parents signed my house over to my brother, and my brother alone. what about my sister and i? yes, we both have houses of our own, but neither of us (including the income of our husbands) make even HALF what my brother does. we are both constantly struggling to make ends meet, whereas my brother is single, makes an amazing salary, is not married and has no dependents. yes, i resent this very much.

i am glad that the homestead is still in the family. however, it would have been much more fair (and much less painful for my sister and i) if they had signed it over to all three of us. it would have been easy to do, and we would have let mom stay there as caretaker until she dies/couldn't do it, which is what my brother is letting her do.

this has been the icing on a very, very big cake in a lot of ways. i was the one that my mother says she wish she had aborted, my sister was the easy one, therefore got little attention either way, and my brother is the golden boy, hands down.

my brother is a great guy, and one of my best friends. that does not change the fact that my parents, especially my mother, favored him from day one, often at the expense of my sister, and even more at the expense of myself.

i've tried talking to mom about it, but she swears it is all in my head and she wish she would have never had me so i could not pester her about "my stupid, crazy ideas" (her words). so i just don't bother anymore. what's the point?

now that mom is getting older my brother and i have discussed having my husband and i move to the homestead to be the caretakers of it while he is away, which is very, very often. more often than not. i LOVE this idea, but if i do that i will be beholden to my brother, and a nice master is still a master. i think he would do all in his power to be fair, but in the end everything would be his decision, including kicking us out or not. had my parents done things fairly, it would have to be a three way decision, therefore there would always be a "tie-breaker" if there was a disagreement.

and people wonder why i never had children. what if i would have really loved one more than the other, or had only one and really hated it like my mother does me? why would i put any kid through that?
