Angels and Demons movie*don't read if you haven't' seen yet* |
|
I saw the movie tonight with my best friend and I am somewhat disappointed with the movie. I wish they kept more to the book. I know that they have to take some things out of the book which I don't mind and they have to change things. But in the book all 4 Cardinals die...in the move the last one lived to become the Pope. This is a big change, also they didn't have Leonardo's body branded with the Illuminati sign. So instead of being 5 brands there are actually 6. And the last brand was suppose to be a diamond with the words earth, air, fire, water and in the movie the last brand was 2 keys. I consider those BIG differences between the book and movie. Like I can somewhat understand why the director of CERN wasn't in the movie and why Langdon wasn't in the helicopter at the end of the movie but some of the key parts were not there.
If you take the movie away from the book the movie wasn't that bad...but I am a huge Dan Brown fan so I probably noticed a lot more than the average person. But overall the movie was ok...What did you think?

1. beamsey (225) | 8 months ago | I haven't seen the movie yet but I've read the book a long time ago. Though I haven't read it again, I still remember the things you mentioned. When I watch movies based on books, I lower my expectations when I have already read the book. So I won't be as disappointed. People say that turning books into movies give the books life and the characters more real. But I think otherwise. Movies based on books are always disappointing because like what you said, the details are different. The story and characters are boxed in by the actual actors in the movie. When you're reading something, your imagination goes wild with all the information you read and that's something movies will never be able to capture.

dreamr802 (779) | 8 months ago | Yeah I completely agree with you that your imagination just goes wild. I think what makes books turned to movies disappointing for me is because when I read I don't read words I see pictures. It's weird how I do it. But I could read a book and like a couple months later someone will ask me something about it and I would say oh I saw that movie and it was never turned into a movie yet I could see all the pictures like it was a movie.

Very very disappointing. I can't think of any reason why they just used a plain paper printed with "Illuminati" instead of branding it to the body, considering that they have done it with the rest of elements. Same for the illuminati diamond. why not use the illuminati diamond? if you have seen the trailer, you'll see that the illuminati diamond was shown!! but just a glimpse of it. hmmmm..

3. Metalchick (1022) | 7 months ago | As of yet I haven't managed to get out and see the new movie however I have read the book so am more likely than not to be disappointed with the film. The same happened with the Da Vinci Code when there are two cyptexs in the book whereas only one in the film. Found the Da Vinci Code film rushed through the story and didn't really give the audience chance to take in what was happening...just hope angels and demons will be better but from what you've said it doesn't look too likely.

5. kayin04 (120) | 7 months ago | The movie was a big disappointment. And I was really excited about it having a movie adaptation...
The Hassassin died in a different, albeit more brutal, way, the epic line of the "Fire" Cardinal, the fourth Cardinal survived, the conversation between the CERN scientist (forgot his name) and Camerlengo Vencestra, the Illuminati Diamond! Of all the things!
If I were to rank the movie, I'll give it a 6/10, one point higher than my rating in the Da Vinci Code.

6. simonelee (682) | 7 months ago | the movie was okay, but a lot of the characters was omitted. specially the CERN director which played important role. i actually thought that he is the one behind the killings.lol the place, scenes, and the characters was not executed well. Robert L. was also fetched by a high tech air craft. lol

dreamr802 (779) | 7 months ago | Yeah I was wondering how they would put that in the movie but I can understand why they didn't. I just didn't like how they had to change certain things that needed to stay the same like the diamond and having the 4th preferati die. Those were my 2 big issues with the movie.
