If you are desperately seeking a job right now; and you don't have much luck on it. Would you consider someone's suggestion, that you should join the U.S. army? You will get great benefit, and you can serve your country too. Some of my friends have considered this question, and they are in dilemma. They don't go to war, but they definitely want a reliable job. What is your opinion on that?

If I was younger and not married I would consider joining, but only after I had some college behind me. An education is even an asset in the military. If you are in your early 20's and have nothing to do with your life then I think it is a good idea, even during a war. What else are you going to do with your life? This war has not been as deadly as others, and you still have to go through training before they send you anywhere.

After you get out you can go to school or join the workforce with more experiance than you have now.

It is a major decision and commitment so think it through.

Hi there clorissa123;
I have considered it but going to war sounds like something I would never want to do. If I joined right now I think I would have too. I guess it still may be an option for me I am only 25 so I still have a little time. I know my kids would be taken care of too and that is one reason I have considered it. Take care and happy mylotting to you. happy

I did that when I was 19 and I regret it now.
I was working in a nursing home and they were going to pay
my way through nursing school and instead I went in the army
and took their medic training. I got sick after I had almost
completed the training and had to start all over again and
they put too much pressure on me and I had a breakdown.

If you're healthy and have a good head on your shoulders you
should go to college. The army training is not much good in
civilian life and you don't get the same benefits when you
get out unless you've got rank. So your education is better
served by going to a reputable college and using the time
to get a real career you will be able to work at as a
civilian.

My medical training while in the army qualified me to set up
iv's and do a lot of things that a practical nurse does, but
as a civilian I'm not qualified to do any of this. I would
have to go to school anyway. So it's best to get the schooling
rather than the military training. College education holds more
weight both in the military and in civilian life.
