How do you greet friends family members on their birthday?

There are different ways on how we greet our love ones. I always greet them through text. If they don't have text, I personally call them and greet them on their special day. There are unique ways on how we greet them, I wanted to hear from you on how you execute greeting you love ones on their special day. Please do share your experiences and thoughts on this. Thanks.

I usually greet my friends through text messaging if they are far or via email. If they are just around my corner, I give them gifts. same with family members. We usually go out for dinner. My wife is one of the most thoughtful persons i've met. She always remembers birthdays of our friends and families.
