We are currently the World Cup holders, that is why we sing; "WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS" Why do you like rugby?

Often this question is inspired by the masculinity facotr of which is a tougher game physicall to play. One needs pads and helmets but on the other hand is much more vibrant and dangerous. I say Rugby but NFL isn't for pansys either!

| | | 5. ducatirose (28) | 4 weeks ago | In my mind there is no comparison! Rugby is a real man's (or woman's) game. Football is for failed ballerinas and sheep! Nothing against them individually but as a corporate commodity... its a farce! The "ooooh! ref, he just broke my professionally manicured finger nail! send him off and fine him 3 million pounds (his weekly pocket money) .... " the cheek!
What I hate most about football is that its on the news everynight .... world famine, war, 9/11, amazing new discoveries in science, 6 Nations ..... No! Chelsea won 2:0 and then hours of chat about it! If I wanted to be a professional sheep I'd support a football team.
When a footballers exploits in their local club take presedence over monumental world events on the front page of a newspaper, i think Mmmmmm? am I the only person who thinks this is irrelevant to my existance and equanimity on this planet? That's why I love Rugby, the vast majority of the players have real jobs as well, doctors, dentists, mechanics, teachers, even lawyers play professionally and keep a job. They dont get paid millions to pout and fall nicely. Rugby is a proper game not influenced by the global market, perfume camapigns or Posh's latest dress code.
I will be having my ususal discussion/fight with my local landlord re: rugby on the big screen or some "friendly" local footy match where several hundred "fans" arrange a punch up. I know we will lose (i support Scotland,) they've done us proud but I'm not fool its not whether you win or not it's how you played the game! but hey big screen or No! ... the little room at the back gets packed, so no problemo there! big hugs and have fun playin with those odd shaped balls ...ducatirose xx
