The insulin resistance diet  | | Hi everyone, I was recently diganosed with insulin resistance, in which the body has to produce excessively high levels of insulin to process food. One of the symptoms of this is inexplicable weight gain despite healthy eating, and extreme difficulty in getting excess weight off.
As a result, I was put on Metformin (anti-diabetes medication) and have to see a dietician at the hospital. In such cases, the usual treatment is to cut back on carbohydrates, which is a bot hard because I love pasta and rice.
In the mean time, I bought a book called "The Insulin-Resistance Diet", presenting a diet in which you are allowed up to two servings of carbohydrate per meal provided you eat the same number of servings of protein. Protein meals alone are OK, but carbohydrates may nt be eaten alone because it is they which affect insulin and blood sugar levels. I must say I find it surprisingly easy, and in combination with the Metformin I already lost 5 pounds (2kg) in the first week without any hunger or food cravings.
I was wondering if anyone else ever tried this, and how they got on with it?
