i often see this RSS feed at the bottom of some sites.i wonder what's this all about. i was also asked once when i opened my blog. do i need to subscribe it.is is free. i don't have any idea about it.

I forgot what it stands for but if you subscribe to a blog's or websites rss then you will remain updated to the latest stuff on that site/blog through email.

RSS feed is the subscription to that particular website or blog.
You can choose to subscribe it to your email or google reader or yahoo or whichever is available there.
For example if you subscribe it to your email, you will receive emails whenever that particular site you subscribed to has any new updates. That is to keep you updated on that site.
It doesn't cost a cent, if I am not wrong.
