Don't worry, you can still get back your rating, just keep on giving quality post whether it is a discussion, response, or comment. And you may avoid posting to discussions about politics and religion if you want because it has a high risk of decreasing reputation. All of us here have different beliefs and opinions. Be true to yourself and don't opt out of discussions just because you may get a negative rating. If we all had the same opinions, there would be no point in joining discussions, would there? If you think a particular person or group of people are consistently rating you negatively, even though your posts are the same quality as in other sections, report them. It states clearly in the Mylot guidelines that people should not rate negatively just because they disagree with the poster's opinion. Negative ratings are used for poor quality discussions and responses.

Many people will continue to argue on this one for sure. Personally I never rate someone just for their beliefs or thoughts unless they have a mean spirited attitude when responding back to something as well. But at the same time I think this is one of the main reasons I usually will not respond back to some of these type of discussions in here as well.

As soon as it changes, someone will find a way to down-rate someone else. Also, there are so many new interests being created every day, it would be impossible for Mylot to filter them all. I think it should just stay as it is. If you have a lot of friends on your side, your raiting will never get too low.
