It is the relaxed atmosphere and no outdoor work or games to do, which is making the children couch potatoes. So many of them with protruding tummys and their mummys ignoring them at all, for them its a healthy baby and dont you say anything to him for his good health! So what do you say are they not becoming couch potatoes?

Some are becoming couch potatoes, but there are a number of factors at work here. One is parents. Many parents do not regulate their children's TV time anymore. Some even us it to get their kids out of their hair. Another factor is the school system. I've been hearing more stories about schools taking PE and recess time out of school. To me that is a big mistake because these are where kids get their exercise and physical activity during the day. If there is not activity other than sittin in a classroom, they will most likely gain weight. They will also think that is normal.

I don't think, I know many are. I love video games as much as the next person but when I was a child, which was about 10-15 years ago, I loved being outside more than inside. I had a big imagination and just loved playing out what I liked.
Today's children rely on tv and games too much. I know I wouldn't be able to sit infront of a tv for too long because I'd grow bored.

Yes, I feel that more and more kids are becoming couch potatoes as parents allow it to happen. Parents don't care that the kids aren't outside as long as they are busy and not under their feet. Most parents work these days and really don't know what is going on with the kids. I feel sorry for the child who is never outside to do any play as that is some of my fondest memories of childhood.

I think the change in the environment and living condition has caused this to appear. Nowadays, families are getting richer than before. Thus, the children are given more better material support than before. They are offered more food, more entertainment options. They just have too many reasons not going outdoor for entertainment: PSP, PS3, Internet, Computer Games, etc.
Parents, however, just don't realize that providing all these gadgets or support to their children is actually not helping them or doing them good.
