I have a song that I can't get out of my head. It's "I Won't Send Roses" from Mack and Mabel. Mack and Mabel was a musical about silent film Director Mack Sennett and actress Mabel Normand that started off well but ultimately flopped. I probably wouldn't even know about it if it weren't for ice dancers Torvill and Dean doing their 1982 free dance to music from Mack and Mabel. I bought the soundtrack a few years ago and I play it occasionally and then the lyrics appeared on Nettie's blog in one of her tributes to Ed Rambeau. Well folks, one of my hidden talents is that I can, pretty much on the fly, come up with silly, fairly funny, well rhyming lyrics to almost any song. "I Won't Send Roses" was no exception. This morning as the song was replaying for the bazillionth time in my head, I came up with this: I won't send roses to your home. I won't send roses to your work. I won't send roses Because I'm just a jerk. Watch out Alan Sherman, here comes Dawn! Too bad I don't have a singing voice... Does anybody have any hidden talents that are more interesting than making up silly lyrics?
