What do you think about Calorie Restriction Diets to live longer?

I need some opinions.
I am a weightlifter, and I'm a 29 year old male. Because of the nature of my training and the demands I place on my body, I eat a lot of food, usually between 4,000 and 5,000 calories per day. Now don't get me wrong; I'm not fat AT ALL. I am extremely fit and have low body fat. I have no issues with my looks at all. In fact, I get a lot of attention because of my looks.
Now here's what I want some opinions on. There are studies suggesting that by slightly under-eating you can greatly extend your life. Here is a site with more info: http://calorierestrictiondietplan.com/
That sounds great and interests me because I'm obviously interested in being healthy, but if I were to adopt such a lifestyle I would lose all my muscle as my daily calorie intake drops to below 2,000 per day. I am 5'9" right now and 190lbs and around 8% bodyfat. If I were to adopt this kind of diet I would drop back to my super-skinny pre-workout weight of 140, and I REALLY don't want that.
So the rational side of me wants to keep doing what I'm doing and keep being very attractive, but the health-conscious part of me wants to make sure I live a long time.
In fairness, this is the blog where I first hear about this type of diet: http://www.bloglines.com/blog/bderry2
What do you think? It's basically two lifestyles that are on opposite ends of the spectrum.
Help!

Yes I have heard of this diet. Some people who were following this type of diet were on tv a while back and they were extremely thin. The lower intake of calories is apparently suppose to slow down your metabolic rate and slow the rate at which you age.
For best effect you are suppose to start as young as possible. But calorie restriction isn't scientifically proven and there are no guarantees you will live any longer. Lets face it, you might get hit by a car tomorrow!
Also these people who were on a calorie restriction diet couldn't go out with their friends for a meal because many resturants don't really cater for them. So if they do live longer, it won't necessarily be a life lived to the fullest. I think the best thing to do is to stick to a diet and lifestyle that suits you.
