Piteå - a town in the north of Sweden  

Piteå is a town in the north of Sweden but below the Arctic Circle.
The population is about 50.000 people in the whole community and around 10.000 in the town.
The most of the population speaks decent English and in the stores you can count on that they will help you to find what you would like.
The Pitebo(the ones living in Piteå) is very helpful and pleasant.

With it’s bright summer nights Piteå often has the highest amount of hours with sun in Sweden.
Piteå Havsbad – called the Rivera of Norden – is a big hotel and camping area with pools, beaches and several outdoor and indoor activities. There is also Skeppet - a place where you can play with slides and so on.

There is several things to go to – both for children and adults.
Some examples are:
Bölebyns Garveri ; a company that tans leather and makes wonderful things out of it, backpacks, shoes and several other items.
There are several pottery shops and artists with different styles and prizes, glass works, painters and other different artists.
You can visit museums for free,
Piteå has a beautiful scenery and Storforsen, Sweden’s biggest waterfall, 100 miles in to the country is worth a visit, so is also the archipelago.
The Tourist bureau can tell you all there is to see.
In the beginning of June there is a large soccer tournament for young boys and girls with nearly 800 teams from swveral different countries - Piteå Summer Games - one of the biggest soccer tournaments in the world.

Piteå is mainly a summer city with many big events during the summer some are;

*PDOL is one big music festival with over 40.000 visitors
*Musik i Piteå älvdal is another music festival but with folkmusic and classical music.
*Piteå Summer Games - the football(soccer)tournament

You can fish, go on hikes and much more - if you like to be outside Piteå is a great place for you to visit.

The churchtown in Öjebyn is also worth a visit.

If you are into shopping - your needs can be filled.

To get to Piteå you fly to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, and then fly to Luleå, Kallax. From there you go by bus or taxi to Piteå. You can also take the train from Stockholm to Älvsbyn and go by bus to Piteå.
