Which fabulous singer was best? Elvis Presley or Johnny Cash?  

Definatley Johnny Cash. He was brilliant when he was alive. I have never really cared much for Elvis Presley and don't have his album but I have Johnny Cash's and his life story was so touching in Walk The Line.

Johnny Cash, simply because he wrote such a lot of his own material. They were both great singers, which is attested to by the fact that their music is still played now, 50 years after they first started out. But a singer who can write his own stuff will always have that edge for me.

Its so difficult to choose among the these two great singers. Well i like Elvis Presley's songs but my favorite is Johnny Cash. He was simply superb. I just love all his songs. Walk the line is the best among the best.

Yes, I'm glad to see a younger generation enjoying legends. Johnny made a great comeback. I have to say I like Johnny better, always have, but my opinion is a bit tainted. I live and grew up in Mississippi just outside of Memphis and down the street from Elvis's ranch. I don't hate him, but after awhile the hype gets annoying. Also, I was so excited when I visited Sun Studios. Turns out it's all about Elvis. Hardly any Johnny at all.

I listened to so much Jonny Cash as a kid that I had a sort of rebelion when I was older. Rock n Roll was my thing. One day driving the kids around a Jonny came on. To my suprise, the kids not only knew the song but loved it. I later found out that they were into Elvis, and Hank Williams Sr. Wow. I suppose somewhere, they have found memories that included this music. So yes I think this music is a new trend.

One doesn't have to supercede the other. I like both. Elvis though was a charismatic magic man to all. Thrilling voice, unequalled looks. If Colonel Parker hadn't stopped him from acting in relevant movies, he would have been a great actor too. Recall "Change of Habit" with Mary Tyler Moore and Charro.

Johnny Cash was and is a star. In a thousand years though, he'll be a paragraph in history. Elvis will be an entire book. His phenomenal persona in no way denigrates the great Johnny Cash, that's just the reality of the Elvis Phenomenon.

This is a really good discussion because music is really important when it comes to peoples lives because music can change your mood,if you are really sad,then music can make you happy,and some music can even make you want to get up and sing and dance around the room,and if you are angry,then music can help make your anger flow out of you,and some music can even make you cry,and I am sure there are people who liked Johnny Cash,and did not like Elvis Presley,and then I am sure there are people who liked Elvis Presley and did not like Johnny Cash,and then I am sure there are people who liked both of them,and then I am sure there are probably people who could stand either of them,and I can understand that everyone has different opinions and no two people are the same,when it comes to me I liked Johnny Cash because he was a good country singer and he had a lot of good songs,one of my favorite songs of his was Walk The Line,and I loved the movie Walk The Line which showed his life,and I have seen it several times,but I also liked Elvis Presley because he was "the king" and he had a lot of good songs,like Aint Nothing But a Hound dog which is one of my favorites,and I do not think I could pick a favorite but if I had to pick I would pick Johnny Cash because I did not listen to a lot of Elvis Presley,have a great day,good luck with your life,and all of your mylotting goals,and Happy Posting.

I like Elvis but is always gonna be Johhny Cash. His music spans a lot of genre's, and his music will never die.

Elvis is great, but I have to say Johnny Cash is my all time favorite for the country/rock genre.
