20 Month Old not sleeping through the night email this discussion to a friend?

Hello fellow parents. I need advice. My 20 month old daughter used to sleep through the night. She sleeps in her crib during the day (at nap time), and when I put her to bed at 8:00 she goes right to sleep. But, lately she has been waking up around 1:00 or 2:00. I made the mistake of letting her sleep with me a few times, and now whenever she wakes up she will not go back to sleep until I put her in my bed. How do I get her to start sleeping in her own crib through the night again? I am not really a fan of the cry-it-out method, but she doesn't really cry anyway. She screams at the top of her lungs. Any advice?

Hi

I sympathsize with your problem, my son is 2 and a half now and still gets up twice a night its so tiring, I am not a believer in the cry it out method either, but unfortunately that is what most advice is for you to do. i haven't managed to do that yet!!

I have tried everything from later bedtimes to thinking he might be hungry or overtired. Then when a was surfing the net Icame across a condition called WAKEFULL BABIES. It basically can start occuring in babies approaching toddler years. Only a few babies suffer from it. It when your little one start getting up one or more times a night. There is some good advice on it if you search for it, but it also says that some children don't stop doing it until they start school age, which is what I think my son will do.

I know this doesn't help much, but have a read of it, you might be able to resolve your daughter's problem.
