Do You Think Sponge Can Use As Soundproofing Meterial In Car?

Hi all mylotters here. I am very curious to know that anyone has any idea that sponge can use as sound blocking to block all those unwanted noise from outside the car? Recently i am trying to DIY sound proof on my car. My car is very noisy because it did not come with a good sound insulation system. So i am thinking to stick sponge under my car mat and all the seats. I have tried stick inside all my doors already. It seems to be worked!!! But i have read a article said that sponge is not gonna work. We have to get a DYNAMAT product to block all the unwanted noise. Do you have any idea to share with me?
