One of my sons is changing before my eyes

I’ve got two boys, 13 and 14 years old, and since they are both entering adolescence it’s only to be expected that they change, not only outwardly, but in their attitudes and therefor in their behaviour. But the 14 year old has undergone such a drastic change over the past few month that I find myself really surprised. He has matured very quickly. I noticed it first after he had a byke accident and fractured his collar bone. So he had this cumbersome bandage that tied his right! arm to his chest so that he couldn’t move it, and he had it on for more than 4 weeks. Now, I would have gone nuts, would have pestered God and the world, would have been grumpy ALL the time and made life difficult for those that are with me. He in turn took it elegantly in his stride, threw maybe one light tantrum during all that time, and just watched peacefully tv or played video games (those that can be played with only a left hand.) And ever since then he is a beacon of tranquility. He used to complain a lot before, like all children do, mainly about me and his mother, how unjust we are, how inconsiderate, you know the tune…. Now he calms down other people in my house! He’s walking around like a peaceful Goliath (he’spretty big for his age), and takes EVERYTHING peacefully in his stride. I’m not worried, mind you, since I really don’t see anything that should worry me. It’s just so dramatic that I like to comment on it. Come on, mums and dads, do you have any similar stories to share?
